Not justifying Hill's behavior at all. There are significant details that makes Hill's crime a misdemeanor and Pettway's a Class C violent felony.

By your ridiculous attempt to justify Alabama's actions by saying that LSU is guilty too, I'll assume that you do value D-line depth over student body safety.

You're right, there are. Pettway never touched anyone, for starters. The rapist sucker punched a guy from behind. Go back to your hole.

How? Pettway never touched anyone. He was present but did not participate.

Sort of like Cecil the Diesel in the closet. No touching...well, no touching anyone else.

Pettway clearly participated, as he admitted when he pled guilty to 2nd degree robbery.

Is sounds like I'm getting two main responses here:
1. I should frick myself.
2. LSU is more worser than Bama.

Makes sense.

Where did he plead guilty to second degree robbery?

Yeah, you got me there. He asked to be charged as a youthful offender, not same as pleading guilty.

That's the pot calling the kettle black, my friend. Jordan Jefferson and Jeremy Hill were defended vehemently by LSU fans on this very board after their run ins with the law. You have absolutely no room to talk.

As for Pettway, what he did was wrong and he was punished for it. He was actually kicked off the team. But of the players involved in the incident, Pettway was the only one who was allowed to come back.

Pettway might be a great guy. Yoy shouldn't necessarily treat him like he's a pittbull with a taste for human blood. But it would be a concern of mine if the victims felt that way. They deserve to be able to attend their school without that fear.

I didn't mean to turn this into a bash 'Bama thing. I am just honestly wondering what the victim thinks about this guy who left him for dead roaming around campus.

I'm all for 2nd chances with minor or just kid stuff, hell even a minor fight as long as it's punished severely/does no lasting harm to a student, but bringing someone back after a violent crime - a really violent one to boot - is just wrong. Often a change of scenery helps both those who get in trouble and removing them helps victims/the student body far more than bringing the person back to the same place. There's no reason on Earth to bring him back to Bama.

Unlike the real world where 2nd chances are needed a lot more because livelihood is on the line (yet are never given), and let's be honest they get much harsher/longer penalties than athletes, - football is a PRIVILEGE and uni's must protect students. And this fails utterly at that.

The details somehow makes the whole situation worse - Bama can't even say they need him. Hell, if you care so much pull some strings to get him into another great program you don't play and protect both the perp and student body by separating the offender from those who may have influenced the behavior and the student body/victims from feeling like it's open season on them. It wasn't even an attack on a non-student. Just violates so much trust, imo and for no reason.

This just tells students they don't matter and the uni doesn't care about doing their duty.

Second chances are fine but given the totality of it all this one is far from ok. I'm sure he'll keep his nose publicly clean but again Bama should tell him to do it somewhere else and offer him support getting into a good FB school.

JMO.

The video shows him fighting another guy and then Hill come up from behind and blindside him and hit him in the back of the head. But by your pathetic attempts to justify his behavior I guess you really are that hypocrite.

I wasn't really going to comment on any of this, but before the actual videotaping of the punch (how convenient), the big arse 6'4 300+lb drunk as hell monster already looked F'd up. His shirt was already torn also, which is an easy sign of him already into it with somebody.

Sounds like standard bar night shite.

If I were the parents of one of those victims I'd sue Saban, the school, the perps, hell I'd sue errbody! I have a feeling the REC stepped up. The next thing I'd do is bring in some muscle from Hoboken to kneecap Pettway in some dark parking lot. Can't believe people defending that POS, much less letting him back in school or playing football. Lost any respect I might have had for Saban for this pandering.

I posted something similar to this a few months ago and most rational bama posters disagreed with the decision to bring pettway back... There's no doubt in my mind that if pettway wasn't a juco all American he would have never set foot on Alabama's campus again... Also, if I'm not mistaken he's on scholarship which just rubs salt in the wounds...

I disagreed with the decision to bring Pettway back and stilll do, but for an LSU fan to bring this up is hilarious after some of the incidents already mentioned in this thread

One of the players we kicked off was a 5 star WR, so I really don't think athletic ability had a whole lot to do with the decision. We don't "need" Pettway. Saban wanted to do some people heppin.

Agree.

That said, his assault experience appears to be paying off on the D-line.
