why not North and South Divisions

I like the N/S approach. There are certain rivalries that need to be kept. WLOCP, DSOR, IB. I'd hate to see UT go to the other division but REALLY want AU to play us every year so it evens out sort of. UGA is the big one that needs to stay with us for me.

But you also split tLandmass and LSU leaves Ole Miss, Bama, and Arkansas.

What rivalries absolutely need to be salvaged?

You cant split mississippi schools or alabama schools, or Florida Georgia
Also alabama tennessee should stay intact. My version keeps said rivalries.

Agreed. Bama fans and Georgia fans can love their rivalries, but don't expect me to support the notion that they have to be saved at any cost

I'm trying to get people to consider the idea that aligning by geography isn't needed. That's all. I'm convinced the "HAVE TO KEEP THE RIVALRIES" crowd are the same kind of people that would have been against the forward pass.

The west would be murderers row in your scenario....
Granted ole miss would get to play the weakest east teams.

But the east would still have three weak teams.
USC Vandy Kentucky
West would have one
Texas am and they are going to swing up

Would have to move another weakfish team from east to west

None have to be salvaged in my opinion, but in the North/South I posted Ole Miss would have to have MSU as their perm. LSU would be the odd man out, but we don't have a rival, amirite?

This would work assuming ole miss cross division rivals were state and LSU every year.
I'd be ok with this

If we could only move beyond only one damn permanent cross division rival and try to get to a 9 game format.

Aren't i though ? Phaggie

You want to come in to a conference and tell people screw their rivalries.
Get real.
We don't run from our rivals just because we cant beat them over here.

I'd just group them right down the middle E/W or N/S like you did and move to 9 games. It's a pain to not a play team for 6 years or not get to go to there house or have them come to the swamp for over a decade. With 9 games there isn't such a lag and you can still form rivalries even if that aren't played every year.

But then you have unequal 4/5 home away. I'd rather extend the season, go to 10 conference games, 1 P5, one cupcake, with 2 or 3 byes.

What if the division splits Georgia away from you guys...
That couldn't possibly work.
Same with miss schools and alabama schools
