I think what he meant to say is you can transition to a 4-3 with minimal personnel discrepencies.

Bama ran 872 plays in 2014 and Auburn ran 873.

He was talking about how changing schemes was going to hurt Auburn. The only big difference in a 4-3 and a 4-2-5 is the 4-2-5 uses a "star" that moves from LB to S and the 4-3 uses a 3rd LB all the time. You don't need completely different personnel like going to a 3-4.

It has hurt us recruiting top players we projected to play the "star" because they want to play S or LB to get to the NFL.

I'd much rather run the 3-4 or a 3-4 hybrid like Boom ran at Florida and Belichik runs at New England

And Saban runs at Alabama.... It's ok, you can say it. We won't judge.... much.

Wouldn't be any different than Saban running hurry up after all his safety complaints because Gus ran it.

Except that we have ALWAYS thrown in a hurry up drive from time to time sporadically. Always. Like, before Auburn had even HEARD of Gus. The difference is, tossing it in out of the blue to throw off the defense is one thing. Using it as an offensive philosophy to continuously capitalize on mistakes caused by it is a completely different animal.
