It would have been worse.
Bama loses games with SEC refs from time to time.
They hadn't lost a national championship game with other conference refs since the 70s.

So, wait- let me just get this straight. On Clemson's last drive, there was a PI call on 2nd down, with the line of scrimmage being around the 9 yard line. PI was called on bama, which gave Clemson a fresh set of downs, from the 2 yard line. Instead of being 3rd and goal from the 9. If that PI had been not flagged (like I have seen in some of bama's SEC games), you don't think that the defense could have stopped them from getting that touch down with 9 seconds left to play?

Sure, it would have ultimately led to over time, but possibly winning the toss and resting your defense for a few minutes, certainly could have influenced the outcome of that game. And that is just ONE example.

No. Pretty sure SEC refs had Alabama's opponents as the least penalized in the country this year so probably would have been worse for Bama.

This is pretty common when teams blow opponents out tbh.

Yes they win easy. Those guys know what they're doing. Get bama a nice lead in the 2nd half then flag bama as much as they can on plays that dont matter to make the stat line look good.

I keep seeing this stat but I have yet to see an opposing fan ever argue that much about the penalties that are called during the games. It's 90% about what goes uncalled that pisses everyone off. Bama had 3 DPI and Defensive holding combined for the entire season. How many ejections did Bama have this season for helmet to helmet hits. The entire country witnessed a blatant one in the NCG that went uncalled. So you be the judge.

It's cute that you think this

Lol. That wasn't his opinion. That is a fact based on mathematics. Alabama's opponents were 128/128 in penalty yards. Carry on

Bamas opponents being the least penalized group in the nation would indicate some penalties aren't being called, wouldn't it?

Not sure, but as it so happens, every SEC game next season will be with SEC refs. REC doing work!

Have yet to see the link to this. Not saying it's untrue but the fact that Bama claims 11... no 14... no 16 titles in football doesn't inspire confidence in their ability to be truthful.

I would think YES.

You think correctly.

Bama has been helped by SEC officiating going back to the Bryant days.

I remember one very tough LSU loss to Bama where Charlie McClendon said "Alabama had a silver spoon in their mouths."

Charlie Mac knew what the deal was.

Thanks for the link. Doesn't show yards though. Also show games against top 25 talent. You can go all day but the entire country witnessed what happens when Bama plays with unbiased refs.

Opponents penalty yards per game

Call it what you want dude, I'm just reporting the numbers. The only thing those stats exclude are games involving an FCS opponent

Bama opponents are literally dead last in penalties and penalty yards over the course of the season and you're sitting here talking about bias for Bama. Thats pretty sad

What's sad is the first thing your own team does after a loss is talk to the media and say "WE" feel like the refs were out to get us. Hahaha not "I" and not "A Few OF US" but "WE" feel like refs were out for us. That is a joke and if I were Saban his arse would still be running laps around the stadium. Pathetic.

Who knows?

This entire argument about stats is a deflection. You can't come up with a stat line on uncalled penalties. When a team can commit three holdings on one play and none of them are called, why is the stat line on penalties against their opponent relevant?
