I cant believe people actually thought this would not happen.
Direct TV would be committing suicide

yes I know, I never blinked that DIRECTV wouldn't carry it
I work in the TV business and had dinner with some execs with DIRECTV Tuesday night.
apparently the only thing preventing this from being done is they are negotiating the watch espn rights. once that's done then it will be announced

Off topic, but isn't Directv's CEO like an ex history or English teacher?
I still wouldn't switch to Directv unless they literally unlocked every channel for 6 months minus the pron

horseshite.
That's always been part of the package ... it's never been in question where the SECN is concerned.

Glad this worked out, as most felt it would.
I got a sweet deal last week to stay with directv and advised others to get their deal too. A clown fan of an OSU said this: They aren't getting sec network

direcTV does not currently have WatchESPN which I think is his point. This is part of larger negotiation

Directv signed a long term deal with ESPN back in 2005 so they haven't had to pick up WatchESPN. ESPN is using this SECN launch to force any service provider who wants SECN to take WatchESPN and LHN too.

Great news--and the perfect backdrop for this, the last official day of the offseason.

Gotcha ... so this is more about the entire Disney/ESPN package renegotiation, which now includes the SECN, that just the SECN.
Okay, that makes sense.
Because I know for a fact that the SECN package was sold with WatchESPN rights included.

What does the LHN have to do with this? I thought they operated separately and not in partnership with ESPN?

lulz ... let's see it actually get done first.
Between last Monday-Friday DirecTV suffered huge subscriber losses, the largest single week of subscriber losses in their company's history so obviously, the pressure is now on and they are realizing SEC fan subscribers are not bluffing. That's good ... good for SEC fans and good for AT&T U-verse.
Doesn't matter to me either way - but I have enjoyed watching DirecTV squirm. They have had a long history of holding-out, sic carriage disputes ( LINK), in the so-called name of rising rates while at the same time their rates have risen more than any other provider ... cable, satellite or otherwise.
If they do the deal in time AT&T wins, if they don't then AT&T still wins. The PAC 12 fans continue to lose either way. DISH has won either way.
Hell, it's the most win-win clusterfrick I've ever witnessed from my portfolio's perspective.
DISH remains the better satellite provider of the two.

You have any link for that subscriber loss? I'd like or read it if so.
