Looks like the Pac-12 owns this competition...guess they're truly the overall best conference for all of college athletics.

I think water polo is one where it is just the PAC and another west coast conference. I think M volleyball is another. The general debate is counting any sport where at least 3 of the 5 power conferences do not play it. Seems even more obvious when 4 of the 5 do not play it.

I think beach volleyball as well

Yes, but this is how it works: The Directors Cup only counts the top 10 sports in each gender for a school (20). Some SEC schools do not have 10 sports in each gender. All Pac-12 schools do. The net result is that nearly all SEC schools must count all of their sports, and PAC-12 programs like Stanford with their 37 sports can drop their bottom 17 performing sports and only count their top 10 in each gender even if they have championships in rifle, nose picking, and snowflake debate. Those championships count the same as a football, basketball or baseball title but might have a dozen schools competing in those sports.
For example, only 21 division 1 schools compete in mens and womens fencing. Those schools, even if they finish last, earn points for a top 25 finish in the sport. So, if their football basketball and baseball teams finish lower than their placement in fencing, they can replace those sports with fencing, but an SEC school has to count theirs.

My little sister is getting some attention from South Carolina's Beach Volleyball program. Pretty exciting stuff.

Yes and LSU, USCe are the only two SEC schools that participate in it as far as I know. Wasn't trying to say only PAC12 schools participate.
How many of the 47 D1 teams get points?

So, what you're saying is, SEC is...

And the list gets longer depending on what SEC school you pick
