Stanford will always win it because they compete in 36 (!) sports.

Not all of those are used in the standings:

Men's Rowing and Sailing(!!) are not counted.
Women's Lightweight Rowing (as opposed to normal Rowing I guess), Sand Volleyball, Sailing, Squash, and Synchronized Swimming are also not counted.

Forgot to add Field Hockey in the list of Stanford teams that did not make the NCAA postseason.

So in balance, Stanford fields 15 women's teams and 15 men's teams that can earn points in the Director's Cup.

Florida fields 12 women's and 9 men's
Perhaps only UK (in the SEC) fields more?

Florida does have a truly impressive overall athletics program though

I give Stanford a hard time because they compete in some sports that are not very mainstream, but they have a strong athletics department in all sports. There is really nothing that you guys are weak in.

I hear it is a decent school as well.

Also I believe we will finish 2nd on the men's side in the Capital One Cup unless UVa wins the CWS and bumps us down to 3rd.

A&M should add over 200 points for T&F & Baseball. Should be good enough for the top 15.

UK does not field that many and Florida probably fields the most. Based on location and sponsored sports it is pretty impressive that the Cats can finish in the Top 20 in the Directors Cup. If they finish in the Top 10 it would be a herculean feat indeed.

SEC recognizes 9 men's sports and 8 SEC schools play all 9 - Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Missouri wrestles in the MAC. Kentucky and South Carolina play soccer in CUSA.

MEN'S = 10.5 sports : UK is ahead by 1.5 (Rifle = .5 and Soccer = 1)
Big 3 = football + basketball + baseball
Running 3 = cross country + indoor track & field + outdoor track and field
Individual 3 = golf + tennis + swimming & diving
Rifle = not SEC sport
Soccer = not SEC sport

SEC recognizes 12 women's sports and only Georgia and Auburn compete in all 12. Alabama and Tennessee row in the B12, Florida and Vanderbilt play lacrosse in the ALC. Kentucky and Mississippi have Rifle teams (UK is coed, Ole Miss is women). Vanderbilt has a bowling team

WOMEN'S = 11.5 sports : UK is behind by 0.5 (Rifle = .5) as their equestrian team choses to remain a club
Big 3 = basketball + softball + gymnastics
Running 3 = cross country + indoor track & field + outdoor track and field
Individual 3 = golf + tennis + swimming & diving
Remaining 3 = volleyball + soccer + equestrian
Rifle = not SEC sport

The SEC truly has depth in all sports. It's quite amazing, actually.

The Big 12 really suffered in the last realignment in the non-revenue sports:

#10 Texas A&M to SEC
#23 Nebraska to B1G
#39 Colorado to PAC
#46 Missouri to SEC

Also you have Syracuse listed in the American when they were in the ACC this season so the ACC and PAC are tied at 9 teams in the Top 54.

That's all that matters. :)

Really, though, I think close to Top 50 is a littler better than usual for both schools.

Exactly, finishing where both did is still damn impressive when you think the Directors Cup has around 300 schools with points finishing in the Top 50 is like finishing in the Top 15% to 20%. Not bad at all.
