Did Houston Nutt keep a bad Arkansas program out of the cellar?

Arkansas was 75-48 (61%) overall and 42-38 (52.5%) in SEC play in 10 years under HDN. In the 7 1/4 years since then, Arkansas has gone 49-42 (53.8%) overall and 21-35 (37.5%) in SEC play. Would HDN have driven the program into the same ditch? Could he drive them out of that ditch now if given the reigns to the Harley? WPS. I'll hang up and listen.

Yes he would've. In fact, the program was already on the decline when Coach Nutt left.

No. Nutt demonstrated at both Ark and Ole Miss that he can't maintain a program at a high level of success. He drove both programs into a ditch.

This is a good point. Who do you think could save their program?

They've won one road game in 3 years.

Chad Morris would be a homerun for Pig next year after Bert

They will get Gruden now that Butch have the Vols back to national title contenders.

I think so, he was crazy but that kind of matched the Arky fanbase. Plus even though he was probably never going to win a title (came close once) he was always good for an upset or two every year.

He had an offense with Mcfadden, Matt, and Cedric and still couldn't get to Atlanta.

That's a tough one, especially since I thought Beliema was a good hire. OTOH, he's only 3 games into his 2nd season so he's got time to turn it around, although the schedule get's pretty rough from here on out. If he has a bad season this year the question becomes how much longer will the Hog faithful put up w/ subpar seasons before he's gone? I've got a number of Hog friends and they're really devoted to their team.

were you drunk in 2006 when he went to Atlanta? What about in 2002 when he also made it to Atlanta?

Good point, but he could not keep Ole Miss out? Why is that?
