I'd say losing to Florida 11 or 12 times in a row had more to do with it than anything Auburn was doing.
I agree. It solidified the fact that Grant would never be the coach/success that Billy D is.

Why would auburn fans need inside sources? Cecil Hurt, Kevin Scarbinsky, and Wimp Sanderson all said Bill Battle did not want to fire Grant

I love how Bama fans become so shortsighted when it fits the narrative. It wasn't about this year and winning three tournament games. It's about Pearl making Auburn basketball relevant again. Of course everyone can claim they know the details of why Grant was canned, but none of us really do.

...not directly.

I do think the fact Bruce is at Auburn played a role in the decision to fire him. Now let's see if it also plays a role in who they hire next. This is a moment when we'll see how serious Bama is about basketball.

As a side note, it's funny how similar this situation is to our football programs in 2008, but with the program's swapped.

Correct answer.

This is the truth, but Bama fans want to make it all about Grant's record vs. Pearl.

I think those of us that follow the program know more about why he was fired than Auburn fans do.

How about showing us where Cecil said Battle was against firing Grant, scooter.....and the other 2 clowns are about as close to "insiders" as Jim in Tuscaloosa!

Look you had a great tournament but Auburn basketball isn't quite relevant again

I don't know, but Auburn fans in this thread are certainly saying they had the inside sources and know what happened. It's funny.

Cecil Hurt went on Finebaum immediately after bama was eliminated from the SEC tournament and said he expected Grant back next year

That's great. His expectation was incorrect.

How in the hell does that equate to him saying Battle wanted him back?...What did you expect him to say, you fool?...he has to work with the HC every day! IF you followed Cecil's articles you would know that his writings have inconspicuously leaned toward a "new" direction. You Auburn clowns need to quit begging for some/any recognition of relevance...it's embarrassing.

Yes as Gene stallings used to say you don't get fired in sec for just having a bad season but if you have a bad one and your rival has a good one you are toast

This is what I'm talking about...many bad seasons got Grant, but the decision was made harder because he dominated Auburn/Pearl.

And as soon as the fanbase and all of the boosters got word that he might be retained, they flipped out and put pressure on Battle and Battle did the right thing. Not rocket science.
