Dude is clearly running towards that big arse space heater looking thing.

All I'm saying is that he shouldn't get in the way of an athlete. Student safety > dog safety.

Meh.
It's not like he took the guy down.
He lowered his shoulder and adroitly nudged him aside.
For all we know, he could've "saved" the Smoo player from some kind of ankle/knee injury as well.
All's well that ends well.

Please, enlighten us: How do you get commissioned as an officer straight out of high school?

I really want to hear this answer.

Ended fine. But ACLs tear in crazy ways. I'd hate to be the pretend soldier that caused a FBS player to miss the rest of the season, myself.

I'm sorry, but where does this:

I'm pretty sure there are lots of high school kids that play soldier, too, and end up in the military.

By your logic, cadets at USMA are pretend soldiers because they haven't commissioned yet...and don't give me that "they're actually in the military" crap. Their time in service doesn't officially begin until their 2LT date of rank and they don't sign their intent to commission until their junior year, just like every ROTC cadet.

I actually thought the A&M guy reacted to the situation perfectly. Physically ensured safety of the dog but no more. Some guys would have taken it as an opportunity to be unnecesarily forceful, and that would have looked bad on A&M

Cadets at the USMA...in times of war, would they be expected to fight? Same question for Aggie corps? Not when they finish school, but right then and there?

Educate me.

Really was. Heard about this, but hadn't seen it. I would of done the same thing. I don't like people, but who doesn't love a sweet looking dog like that.

In a time of national emergency and/or a draft, all academy cadets, all ROTC cadets, to include all freshman and sophomore cadets at A&M and all junior and senior contract cadets as well as the IRR are eligible for callup.

If you were to refer to "white belt" (junior or senior) cadets with no ROTC affiliation as pretend soldiers, you would be somewhat correct, assuming they don't go OCS or PLC and aren't prior service.

Agreed. Nothing about this situation was done poorly.

Hopefully James Harden sees that and picks up a few pointers on defense.
