Umm, he did.

I think what Saban is talking about with DaBoll that is in contrast to Kiffin is organization, steadiness, etc.

Kiffin was very good for us until he took the FAU job and couldn't do 2 things at once. Anyone who argues otherwise is an idiot. DaBoll comes from an offensive school that is very much spread. I'm guessing the offensive sets will look pretty similar to the last 2-3 years. The plan will be to grind out drives more than find 4-5 big plays throughout a game.

We'll see how it goes.

Saban isn't a fan of that national title ring from 2015?

This is all being blown up pretty big. Saban knew what he was getting in Kiffin and he got exactly that : offensive savant, messy, immature, big play ability, etc.

I don't think anybody in that story was surprised by the success or the eventual collapse of the working relationship.

I am?

You listed some players, who werent really good or known before Kiffin, as a disqualifier

AJ was a star for you guys and you are failing to acknowledge all the other players outside of the Kiffin era in the comparison, Julio, TR, Ingram, etc...

Either that, or completely missing the obvious point.

The two years we had athletes at QB, we averaged more yards per game. Shocker.

Plays that would have resulted in a throw away or a sack for those other guys turned into scrambles for positive yards. That has very little to do with Lane Kiffin's play calling.

So outside of those years when the stats were just slightly less, but almost the smae...how does that skew into your analysis?

Yes and plays were also designed as runs, helping the rush game. And these busted plays arent the norm throughout the game.

Buddy, I don't know what to tell you if you can't comprehend how a system with an athletic quarterback is probably going to average more total yards per game than if they had an unathletic quarterback.

I feel like as an Auburn fan, with the quarterbacks you've had over the years, you'd understand that pretty well.

I feel like you're arguing just for the sake of arguing at this point.

Wait, I thought hiring Kiffin was going to be the biggest mistake Saban ever made. Now he can't be replaced?

Saban changed his offense because the college game changed. He needed Kiffin.

Nicky is a whiney, spoiled pissant. The guy has the personality of a man who hasn't been able to shite for 3 or 4 weeks.

No one is disputing Kiffin play calling ability. Issue to me was lack of QB development. There were three players with multiple years experience all of whom except Bateman were better passers than Jalen and they couldn't beat him out. The job of offensive coordinator is not just to score points. It's about controlling the game Lane was run off not just based in a poor performance against Washington but there were a lot of behind the scene issues going on that couldn't be tolerated any longer according to the local media which is why he was relieved early. The Washington fiasco was just icing on the cake. Alabama has NEVER had an unsuccesssful OC under Saban. Every one of them has won a NC. I'm excited about Dabol.

Not really...Pocket QB's have run some of the best offenses in CFB history. 96 UF, 08 OU, etc. The whole Air Raid was based on pocket QB's as well and it rang scores through the roof. The difference, was Alabama was less conservative with their play calling. Wasn't just pound the ball, wear you out, and play action pass. Having a pocket QB doesn't mean you are hampered offensively in the least.

You say it like it is a fact

Just having an athletic QB does not equate more yards.
