About your sig....

Bama actually has more than 3 crystal balls. Even though the coach's trophy only started giving out the crystal balls in 1986, any team that has ever won the coach's poll dated back to 1950 can apply to have one sent to them by the association. Don't know for sure if bama has done this, but they could.

Maximum Block, hanging in my man cave right now.

Wasn't happy about the sloppiness of that game, but I have never been upset about beating UT, no matter how it comes. It's kind of fun to see your rivals get their hopes up and see them squashed later.

Anytime you play like complete crap and still come away with a W, count your blessings.

Back on 2009, it had been so long since we were on top that we were just happy to be there and anything that kept us undefeated was welcomed. That entitled mentality that had faded away after years of sucking wasn't as bad as it is now.

If we win 12-10 over Tennessee this year, expect Hiroshima references.

The LSU/auburn game showed us that LSU is not invincible...but anyone who thought they were was just being ridiculous (same as those who think Bama is invincible, or USC was, etc.)

Solid comment CL

How many more retarded threads about the Bama/UT game in 2009 are scared LSU fans gonna start. UT was a solid team in 09' AU 12' sux.

Although I agree that this thread was not needed, I couldn't help but notice how weak and stupid your reply was.

Tennessee 2009 schedule first 4 games
September 5 12:20 p.m. Western Kentucky* Neyland Stadium • Knoxville, TN W 63–7
September 12 4:00 p.m. UCLA* Neyland Stadium • Knoxville, TN L 15–19

September 19 3:30 p.m. at #1 Florida Ben Hill Griffin Stadium • Gainesville, FL (Florida-Tennessee rivalry) CBS L 13–23

September 26 7:00 p.m. Ohio* Neyland Stadium • Knoxville, TN Vols PPV W 34–23

2-2 w/ one top 25 opponent and 2 cupcakes

Auburn 2012 schedule first four games

September 1 6:00 PM vs. #14 Clemson* Georgia Dome • Atlanta, GA (Chick-fil-A College Kickoff) ESPN L 19–26

September 8 11:00 AM at (currently ranked)Mississippi State Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field • Starkville, MS ESPN L 10–28

September 15 11:21 AM Louisiana–Monroe* Jordan-Hare Stadium • Auburn, AL SECN/ESPN3 W 31–28 OT

September 22 6:00 PM #2 LSU Jordan-Hare Stadium • Auburn, AL (Tiger Bowl) ESPN L 10-12

1-3 against 3 top 25 opponents and 1 cupcake (that beat a ranked team)

Looks like Auburn is at least comparable to that 2009 Tennessee team to this point and could very well turn out to be better. The SOS after 4 games is not even close. That UT team got destroyed by a garbage UCLA team AT freaking home. I am sure that UT fans remember that one.

Looks like you are the typical smug and stupid Gump. Congrats!

It was pretty awesome. I was too caught up in the experience to really care about the fact that we almost got beat. I think if that kind of game happened this year (knock on wood), I'd probably be upset. But at that time (Dubose et al. hangover), I think fans were conditioned to disaster happening once or twice or three times or six times or nine times a year.

I never said LSU was great that year. I was just wondering how UT was supposed to have a good defense and give up 42 points to Ole Miss.

As has been said before, we were just happy to get the W. We had been going for 8 solid weeks without a break, Tennessee was just coming off a bye and Kiffin had that team hyped up and ready to play. I was at that game and, upon leaving the stadium, was as happy as I could ever remember being as an Alabama fan. We were 8-0, going into a bye week, with LSU coming up in two weeks. As I walked across the Quad, heading back to my dorm, I turned to my friend and guaranteed her we'd win the national championship. That game all but ensured it.

I thought about the Alabama/Tennessee escape as well yesterday and how Alabama went on to win it all.

I was pretty down yesterday but realize it wasn't that bad. The defense dominated. Mett made some nice passes and clearly can improve on taking care of the football. IF the WR get more reliable catching passes that would also be a nice boost.

I have to think the Auburn game got the attention of the LSU players and they now realize they can't just roll through October before the Bama game. LSU will have to improve a good bit to win the SEC this year but I think with a few tweaks on offense they still have a legit shot at it.

Exactly. It was the 8th straight game and UT was coming off the bye week in a rivalry game. McElroy was in the middle of a five game slump most were just happy to get the win.

Bama lead most of the game by 2 possessions and a fluke fumble and an onside kick made it close in the last few mins.

I think if LSU had played that game with Auburn after they'd beaten a few decent teams, there would have been a different reaction. UT wasn't a one win team, and Alabama had already played a few top 25 teams.

haha UT wasn't a one win team because they played Bama in week 7. If they would have played each other in week 4 then they would have been a one win team.

Like many fans are saying about the Bama and UT game, LSU dominated the Auburn game in every way except for on the score board. I think the biggest shocker about the Bama-UT game was the fact that it was in Bryant-Denny. A win is a win in both cases.

People forget that AU has a lot of talent, and JHS is not cake walk of a stadium to play in.

This.

And this is why I was actually concerned about this game.

AU recruited very following the NC year, and that stadium was electric....probably mainly b/c LSU allowed the crowd to stay in it. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the W.

I don't know if AU played above themselves or what, but I really didn't think that LSU played all that bad sans the bonehead penalties/fumbles

I thought I read that schools could order a trophy if you had won since 1986. Since 1986, the winner of the UPI or USA Today Coaches’ Poll has received the Coaches' Trophy. Bama only won 1992, 2009, and 2011 since then.

The other coaches trophies 61, 64, 73, and 79 were before that time.

BDS hasn't given us a great home field advantage recently. I almost prefer playing big games away from home.
