Yes, we are done. We might as well get rid of our football program at LSU. I don't see how we ever come back from this. We'll be lucky to make a bowl game next season. Absolutely demoralizing. I might just transfer so I don't have to see the look of disappointment on the faces of my fellow classmates every week after a game.

UT's program went down hill after LSU, Bama and UGA became consitantly good. When UT was top 5-10 LSU sucked, UGA was coached by Goff & Donnan and Bama was up and down. UT's roster was loaded with talent from La., Ga., AL. Now that talent mostly stays home and UT has no in state talent.......never has. As long as those 3 schools are winning, expect UT to continue to suck.....sorry.

Did the events of 1/9/2012 kill LSU's team morale and program as we know it?

The destruction that started last year was just a little prelude to this year. We weren't even supposed to contend last year. 2012 was always the year things were supposed to come together for LSU. So keep dreaming.

Well, though I see what you're saying, UT still has to go out of state to get players. Dooley has 12 (if I counted right) in state players in his last 3 recruiting classes. However, choices in coaches have been more of a downfall than anything, and it stems before Kiffin. Cutcliffe was more important to the success of the Vols than many outsiders realize. The offensive coordinator replacements when he was gone were pathetic. And, as you've mentioned, the addition of Saban and Meyer to the SEC certainlty didn't help either.

There is actually precedent for the opposite to happen...Nebraska destroyed Florida the year before they won a NC and Alabama was owned in the Sugar Bowl the year before they won it all ...us Tiger fans hope 1/9 is a motivating factor to win it all in 2012.

Maybe the most lopsided championship game in college football history.

I was at the Florida/Florida State rematch in the Sugar Bowl in 1997.

Florida State had won the regular season match. Bobby Bowden wasn't thrilled about having to play Spurrier again.

Seminoles got spanked 52 to 20.

That was much more lopsided.

It was the most points Florida State had allowed since losing 59-27 to Auburn in 1985.

FSU went on to win a national title two years later.

If you thought 1/9 was bad just wait until we rip their hearts out this year. They will have a moving truck and miles bags packed before he gets home.

I love the make-up of this LSU team returning. I've been waiting to see what this team could do with ONE solid quarterback. The quarterback rotation NEVER works (UF was dif, Timmy basically played fullback). This LSU team will be sick.

And?

Stoops regularly wins 10,11,12 games per season.

You could do a lot worse than Oklahoma.

Like LSU, Oklahoma had some dark days in the 90s.

Fans of both schools would be wise to remember how much better things are now.

Sorry... you're right. Thought we were talking about the OP's meme about teams never fully recovering from crushing championship game defeats.

preseason rankings

Only ESPN's. Every single other outlet has us #1.

OMG it has already started. They fell from #1 with ESPN. The next thing you know they will start losing in-state prize recruits to out of state teams. LSU has started the slide into their down cycle. Will BR and Tiger Stadium ever be the same again? When will they start firing coaches?

Sounds like a really bad movie trailer.

Your problem graduated. That should be motivation enough.
