This is called being a man. Instead of claiming certain sec teams are better than others because of cheating and sketchiness, he chooses only to focus on his team and how to improve them
Jason Butt ?@JasonHButt
Vandy's Derek Mason: 'Nobody's cheating in this conference. Everybody's doing it the right way.'

Maybe I'm crazy, but if you asked me which is more likely, nobody's cheating or everyone is, I would say the former.
I don't think it's nearly as rampant as people say it is.

But he is also lying
Maybe lying is a Michigan Man thing to do but to me it shows a lack of character
He should have said I do not take part in cheating at Vandy but I do not know how other coaches conduct business in the rest of the conference

Ole Miss disagrees.

Specifically not mass, large scale cheating with cars and houses and such. You can't throw trash on the ground without it getting seen and reported on social media, do people really think 18 year olds who are being covered by more media than most state governors are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars and new cars and nobody is figuring it out?
Dudes probably still get handshakes, but the biggest things that happen are the type of stuff Ole Miss is getting busted for. Paid for hotel rooms, maybe a party with strippers, a free hunting trip, etc.

I thought Vanderbilt was a smart school and only hired smart people

Of course he is lying but he sounds like a bitch if he says well ya there are cheaters but we don't and we can't compete. It's a lose lose for him.

If this means, everybody is cheating, then he's right on the money. Or he's extremely delusional.

I agree with this. sure, some alumni help the players but they always have; whether it's "jobs" back in my day or the $100 handshake.

I am not saying everyone is handing out Bentley's, but all of the programs have some level of inducements floating around. And not only the SEC.
Kids get free meals. Kids get rides from point A to point B. Free swag. etc. Even if it isn't cash, it goes on because a lot of it is normal stuff that happens for kids but the NCAA rulebook tries to police it.

it's not really policable (new word?). this kind of stuff has been around forever. in my day, the biggest cheaters were Oklahoma and Alabama. bear Bryant did whatever necessary to sign who he really wanted; all of the better players qualified for new cars and never hurt for cash money.
