I'm trying to wait until you figure out that Slow Dixie and From Dixie with Love are two different pieces of music that we play.

I honestly didn't know this....my wife (who attended OM) always calls FDWL "Slow Dixie". Of course, in High School she was a cheerleader from 8th grade on, and didnt know what a first down was until halfway through her senior year. So maybe my source is suspect.

ETA: Are you talking about the song we play before games that adds "God Bless America"?

I thought that was the basterdized version of FDWL?

This is correct. After the Dixie part of FDWL, they play God Bless America or whatever that slow-clap song is instead of those ending notes that people chanted over.

We also play Slow Dixie....at a random part of the game.

That's fair. I should clarify that I was referring to your gutless University that requested the band no longer play it when the "to Hell with LSU" gambit didn't take root.

My iPod needs to be informed of the distinction then... It's got From Dixie with Love(Slow Dixie) as the title.

My ex was the exact same way. She always went to Ole Miss football games too. Then one day she asked me how many "runs" does a touchdown count.

You can't imagine how much people hate Dan Jones around here.

ETA: Him and Ross Bjork during Double Decker went to First National Bank and everyone stopped to talk to Bjork. Maybe one or two people said hey to Dan but the fricker was as anti-social as a human can be.

To be honest, I wasn't happy either. It was a great part about going to VHS. The band members I have talked to were not happy at all about the decision.

I remember hearing about times they would go to BDS and the Bama fans would stand up and cheer. It was something that brought the fan bases together when we played.

Bama pushing our shite in every game has a lot to do with this as well. They wouldn't be so cheerful if we played FDWL after beating them in BDS.

I don't remember 1988....but I'm pretty sure it didn't go too well.

Slow dixie is what people called FDWL, and we don't play the real version anymore. However, we still do play regular, untainted, dixie. FDWL is dixie with the battle hymn on the republic added on at the end. But people don't realize we still play regular old dixie, but usually only a couple of times a game.

Besides maybe Marry and C.J, what semi capable players are on that defense? No wonder Freeze picked such a sacrificial lamb at DC.

Well Sederious Bryant got all SEC freshman and he's third string.

But it's still called FDWL. And the song does include Slow Dixie in it.

Which we still play along with regular assed dixie.
