He had fired Shula (who seemed to be the only coach that wanted to be the coach), had hired and then lost Rich Rod (because his stank wife didn't like Finebaum?), and was making a second trip to Miami to ask the guy to come to Bama that had already turned us down.

I was on the old ESPN MBs back then and it just sucked being a fan of a program that was the poster child for ineptitude.

And then Mal got his guy. Just, wow. Gotta hand it to him. He had a plan and made it happen.
