And that it would have been a "non-game" had he made them.

McElroy gets his head on straight again, we could ream some folks according to this analysis.

*edit*

already getting told I'm flaming LSU. this was not intended to have LSU fans get their panties wadded up. This was intended to see if people generally agree that our ONLY offensive problem has been McElroy.

We drove the ball on you with a healthy Jefferson and Scott; what's your point?

All this tells me is that unless "Mcannon" steps up, you guys are going to be the ones with sore butts come fall 2010.

He did miss three wide open TD's. I thought he played fairly well though and you can't expect any QB to make all the throws. Still, it would have been nice if he'd made a couple of those.

This is just a fricking stupid comment by Danielson (of which he's pretty good at)...

news flash: McElroy is PART OF THE TEAM! It's unfortunate that he's playing poorly, but get used to it... he's good for a couple dumbass throws a game. That's not gonna change. I might be more inclined to believe you if I felt like he had the ability to play better, but that's just not the case.... at this point in the season, He is what he is.... an average QB.

gary danielson can take it up the arse for all i care.

i am really tired of how he is harping on mcelroy so much when he is announcing for us. ue doesnt look at the field of play or the position he is in, he just looks at box score and open guy.

Throws to a checkdown because of pressure? "OMFG WHY DIDNT HE THROW TO JULIO HE WAS OPEN MCELROY SUCKS"

Noone pays attention to how he plays his position on CBS apparently, they just care about the mistakes made because he is not Tim tebow.

Frick Gary Danielson, frick him right in the arse.

and if he weren't such an "average" QB, and instead was an elite QB, how would that affect us on the scoreboard?

weren't bama fans the ones telling us that we couldn't say anything even with lee at QB last year?

it's popular to hate on huge TV icons like Danielson. I'm guilty of it too. but, he calls them as straight as he can. I think it's hard to argue his points about McElroy.

We can go as far as Gmac can take us this year. If he gets hot in the right games we will go all the way. If he blows against UF, we will be runner up in the conference again.

In context, if he has a breakout day along with Bama's running game, they put up 40 on any team in the country.

the point of the thread is ONLY about Bama's offense. not LSU. Bama's offense seems great other than the QB to me. I was looking for evidence of other major areas of weakness outside OF the QB position.

I agree with Gary.

We left a lot of points on the field. GMac missed two wide open touchdowns, but we got at least three points out of the drives with those two passes.

No QB is going to hit every pass and I actually think he played well on Saturday. If he starts playing with confidence and we can continue to protect up front we will ream some people.

The LSU game was only a play or two away from being a blowout.

Would it be much for me to ask you for a link as to when I said this?

You'll no longer have a fifth-year senior recruited by Texas Tech, which is what led me to say that. If Mcannon and Star can't surpass this guy, what makes you think they'll be able to do what Mcleroy is doing now?

This is the main reason I hate Danielson. If a QB (with the exception of Tebow) does anything Gary wouldn't have done he jumps all over the guy. He's pretty negative about other players, but he is extremely critical of quaterbacks. It's like if Spurrier was calling a game and didn't filter his thoughts.

Let me put it this way... If I thought McElroy was an elite QB then went out against LSU and played poorly, then yeah... he "cost" you 24 points, or whatever mythical number Danielson pulled out of his arse.

But this is what?... four or five games now where McElroy has played pretty average football. At this point, let's call a spade a spade... He's not "costing" you anything (unless there's someone else on the roster who could play better)... he's playing pretty much near his talent level.... average.

Do you kinda get where I'm coming from?

Danielson doesn't announce for us and what he said on the Finebaum show about GMac is a fact. McElroy did miss a wide-open Julio Jones ... he did over-throw Brad Smelly ... he did throw a stupid interception just before the half.

i agree with you on all those points. glad you mentioned the whole "no QB can make every pass" thing... kinda helped me not be so bitter about missing out on ALL of those "24" points... even if it wasn't 24, i KNOW we should have had 14 that we didn't land.

We don't have that this year either genius,,, but the bad news for you guys is that we will next year. Gmac is just a redshirt junior.
