Could be one of Saban's finest hours in 2015.

Wouldn't surprise me. It also wouldn't surprise me if the offensive turnover is too much and the defense doesn't gel like anticipated. If I was betting today I would say that Bama will win the SEC again, FWIW. But lets not act like 4th in the West is totally outside the realm of possibility, and honestly that goes for anyone in the West right now.

What has happened in the off season that shows Saban is off his game? Was it another number one recruiting class that gave him that idea?

Saban isn't off his game and Bama isn't on the decline.

But, things don't set up this year for Bama nearly as well as it has the past several years. They have to play Georgia and (if it isnt all total BS) another decent team from the East this year. Also, the playoffs don't favor Bama (or any SEC champ for that matter) as much as the BCS did.

Finebaum isn't worried about Saban's abilities, he just recognizes the path to a NC is more difficult than in the past, although he won't say it.

This Dan fella had deadline to produce something by his boss and when that happens...hatchet comes out of closet. Quite simple.

Dan Wolken is quite the pillar of sports journalism:

I do think this will be Saban's worst team since '07. Not really because he is "off his game" or "declining", but he's breaking in a new quarterback and he has to play:

quote:

Wisconsin
Ole Miss
UL-Monroe

@ Georgia
Arkansas
Tennessee
LSU
@ Auburn

If they do better than 9-3 than he is hands down the best.

ETA: I left Texas A&M off because he beat the shite out of them like a directional school (59-0) last season. He'll do it again.

Yep since the season has already been played and all the Qbs were terrible.

First off, I don't think Alabama is in a decline necessarily. I think Saban will be around for another five or so years, and Alabama will have a good shot at winning another couple of titles with him as coach, especially considering how it looks like Saban is making a stab at adapting to the current offensive game theory.

That said, the gravy train ends at some point. It always does, football is inherently cyclical in nature. I hate Alabama, but dammit I respect the teams that Saban has artfully put together. And I can't be sure, but my hunch is that we are in the late stages of Alabama being the preeminent team to beat.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Agree on all points.

This is one of the dumbest post ever. Why would an Auburn fan worry about the decline of Bama when Auburn lost 5(count them 5) games last year after playing in the national championship the year before?
Shouldn't you worry about the decline of your own team?

Hell, Bucky might smash you back to FCS.

Saban knows how doomed he is playing against a Big 10 team, and doesn't want anybody seeing him whimper.

I'd say he's 55% on his game and 44% off his game, and 1% unsure.
