Mullen would do well at a school with more resources. With all due respect to the State fans here, being HC at State is a very tough gig.

Bold move for an LSU fan to point towards head coaching record as a sign a HC is bad.

It was never a comparison to LSU. I realize O is our head coach right now. I just don't understand how people think Mullen is the next great coach, hes right on par with all the other average coaches in the SEC (sans Saban).

For perspective, the last time that Miss. St. had 6 straight winning season was 1941-1947.

The second longest streak was 1997-2000 for four years.

So, Mullen led the second best streak of winning seasons in Miss. St. history and it came during the modern era.

Mississippi State has been really horrible at football historically. The .588 winning percentage is much higher than State historically.

Mullen has done a great job considering where he is.

Because it's a lot easier to win at a place like Georgia/Florida/Auburn/LSU than MSU.

I think Mullen would have killed it at Georgia. Eason under Mullen would probably be a top 10 draft pick.

He is a very good football coach. He has been fairly successful in a state with half the population as most SEC schools with 3 division 1 teams to compete with in recruiting. What's LSU's excuse.

Wasn't the the only one to recruit his current QB as well? Who, I think, just rattled off another 60 yard gain against Ole Miss.

Have to give him credit. They think their cowbells make them special but really it is just giving everyone there long term brain damage. The alumni mostly consists of homo sapien hicks who have to marry their cousin so they can stay in the closet. You can't even pay decent players to come there which is why they had to snitch out Ol Miss. Once he leaves they will consistently be under 500.

Show me what Mississippi State did the prior 8 seasons, and let's compare.

2008: 4-8
2007: 8-5
2006: 3-9
2005: 3-8
2004: 3-8
2003: 2-10
2002: 3-9
2001: 3-8

So let's compare.

Bowls: Mullen - 7 Prior - 1
Winning Seasons: Mullen - 6 Prior - 1
Ranked during season: Mullen - 5 Prior - 0
Overall: Mullen 60-42 Prior 29-65

I feel like a lot of people forget where the Mississippi State program was between Sherrill's last few years and the Croom tenure.

Dan Mullen would wreck shite if he could recruit the kind of players he had at UF to MSU. Give him a couple of classes of Top 5 talent and State would be scary.

this thread has changed my fickle little mind about Mullen. the guy seems to be able to develop talent. I'm sure he would be have a great program if he could get more top notch guy, if he can develop them all like he does with the few high talents he gets to coach

We had a "decent" coach. Fired him. Hired another "decent" coach. Decent isn't gonna win the west with the Dark Lord still in the division. I'm curious to see who State gets when top tier head coach Dan Mullen gets scooped up by another team.
