sadly he's not drunk. He is like that all the time. For the record Not one Bama fan has claimed that Finebaum is a good or even adequate analyst. Brando is horrible and unlikeable. He is completely obnoxious and wrong more times than right. Danielson is the best of that CBS group and he is only adequate. The only announcer I really like is Todd Blackledge.

It's almost as bad as some of the vuglar stuff we've had to put up with on our visits to alabama.
I'm defensive about my state, my hometown, and my university. So sue me.
For the record, I've also been involved in some very pleasurable and civil threads with Alabama fans. So there's that (in my best Fargo accent :)

I don't listen to his radio show. I don't care about his halftime show. I just don't want to have to hear him say it's 3rd and three, when it's actually 2nd down. Or how a team needs to spike the ball to stop the clock after an incomplete pass or something similar. If he is staying all basketball, than I think that's awesome. People say he's great at that, so it seems to be a perfect fit. If he sucks at it too, then no biggie, it's a sucky sport too. And ftr, I haven't seen anyone joyful about the idea of Finebaum in a play by play capacity, which is what would be comparable to what Brando has done in the past with CBS, and for which he SUCKED.

You have all that to gripe about yet you said you preferred Verne. 
During the Texas A&M/LSU game last year they were showing a replay and Verne thought it was live and started calling the play.

CBS celebrated when they ditched him. Little did we know, he would wiggle hisself into the new network. It's like having a carbuncle on your arse. You have to endure the pain-there's little to do about it.

He's got a lot of bias in that giant dome of his. LSU fans can't see it. He's even worse as a guest on sports talk radio.
