You gonna pay Dabo's huge buyout and 10 million/year?

If that's who Alabama decides it wants they'd pay it in an instant.

I don't think folks realize Dabo has been at Clemson since 2003. He's built that program for 14 years. Also he has an easy path to the playoffs every year. In 5 more years he'll likely have 2-3 more conference titles and a couple playoff appearances. That's going to be hard for him to leave, similar to Jimbo.

That "easy" path has required us to be at least 2 SEC teams every year unless we have ND on the schedule...I believe Auburn has frequently been one of those SEC teams..Even USC under Spurrier had a helluva run when SOS actually was into coaching and building the program.

It seems Alabama has a much easier path when Only one SEC team last year one more than 10 games and I believe most had at least 4 losses?

Well, few things about Jimbo that are different than Dabo situation.

1) LSU didn't offer what they should have for Jimbo, or else he'd be there right now
2) Jimbo was ready to go to AU in 2013 but it didn't work out
3) Jimbo has a child with health concerns that factors into all of his decisions. Dabo doesn't have that factor to consider
4) Jimbo and wife recently divorced and neither went to LSU. Dabo and his wife have been together virtually all their lives, both grew up in Birmingham, both graduated from Bama.

I get the point you're trying to make, but it's just not the same scenario.

My cousin's buddy works closely with Coach O. He only signed with LSU until the Toledo job opens up.

Also, Dabos Boy is a freshman at Clemson on the Football team..he's staying put for a while

So is Saban so we are both good. This wasn't a next week scenario.

Why would Dabo want to replace Saban?
He does not. Like you said, he will want to replace the coach that replaces Saban.
So about 2025 would be about right. He has an 8 year contract. Saban coaches up until 2020-21, retires. Replacement last about 3 seasons. Yep 2025 is the perfect time for him.

This makes the most sense to me if Dabo ever wanted the Bama job...

It's Dabo to replace Nick, unless Clemson turns back into Clempson again.

Great news. Saban retires as per plan in 8 years - after 5 more NC's, and an 11 games win streak over LSU is in the books. Dabo has 8 more years to mature so he learns to not act like such a douchey goober by the time he gets to Tuscaloosa. The wheel keeps on turning.

And lol at the $6.75M as if that's some type of deterrent. When Bama offers him, it'll be about $8M per.

And you would contribute how much to this amount? Easy to spout big numbers, especially if you're not a contributor. Wow. 6 to 8 million to coach COLLEGE football.

hopefully they are smarter than LSU and don't marry their rebound after Nick. At least they'll have the luxury to plan.

I know. I don't believe yours either.

Not that he won't leave for Bama, but that he would let it out there in public (to a staff member that is depending on HIM for a job) that he would. Dabo might be a lot of things, but a bad businessman isn't one of them.

You don't get it. He is letting that person know that when it does happen you can come along. But, they are dug in to Clemson and have no interest whatsoever going to Tuscaloosa when the time comes. Believe what you want baw...

I remember setting the trend when we hired Nick Saban. Got a ton of shite for it but now every program is paying their head coach big bucks. At least we won't promote a position coach.
