I thought I had a grip. Do you actually believe that the refs are letting O linemen club rushers in the head. The line judge, referee or head linesman are just a few yards from the action and all three will flag a foul like that. Use your head and think about it.....and yeah, the DE will keep his head low the next time he tries to speed rush upfield on Cyrus.

It'll never be called by an SEC ref but a non conference ref my throw him out of the game for that.
He looks like someone that Urban Meyer would recruit.

1) You're FOS. There's no violation in college football that doesn't apply to all of college football. Hell, SEC refs are stricter on targeting calls than the other cobference refs I've seen.
2) Auburn recruited AND had him committed, until his folks vetoed it and sent him to Alabama with his brother, Arie.

Still wanna know why you can't block a guy in the back or shove a guy in the back during any play in football, but it's ok for your LT to throw bombs into the backs of DE's as they come off the edge.
One of them is illegal, and the other is not.
There's a "free blocking zone" around the line of scrimmage. As long as the offensive lineman is in his "blocking zone" and actively engaging the person he's blocking, there is no penalty for blocking in the back.

Only against some teams as I have observed.
In general, I am pretty sure after this season, a SEC ref wouldn't notice a player being murdered in front of him...but they will more than happily slap a "stomping" penalty on Georgia.

That's going to be a problem with this particular play. And winding up to sling your arm at someone like that will get you tossed in a damn hurry by most any ref in any conference or the NFL.

There's a lot of truth in this statement, sadly.
I mean for frick's sake, the ref has his hand on the flag before contact even occurs in this gif.

If that is his MO, the rusher should go inside. If the wind-up is already coming, the rusher will catch it in the facemask or throat, and then it really can be called a punch and CyKo will be tossed..
