Ole Miss will finish #1 once Nolen is official. Colorado just has more volume. 6 more commits but only ahead by 1 point.

Ole Miss is definitely killing it. I expect them to make some noise next season. Wish BK would get off his arse and use the portal

It's fun to have an all-in Lane Kiffin. We've currently lifted 9 sitting starters from P5 schools and will be adding a 10th this afternoon.
Of course, the portal continues after today. We'll see what else Ole Miss comes up with.

Kentucky just snagged Jamon Dumas-Johnson, LB from UGA.

It appears the portal actually benefits the lower tier SEC schools more than the upper tier.
Interesting

I think players are really cautious of using their free transfer to go somewhere else they may not start. It’s why guys like Kyle McCord ended up at Syracuse. It’s also why we ended up with Swann, we had to go after the best QB that wasn’t dead set on starting.

I think you get good players from bigger programs looking for more PT and also standout players on shitty G5 teams looking for a better program/atmosphere that can develop them better for the NFL. A mid tier program in a major conference offers this to both types. This helps create disparity in the conference as well and can make these programs dangerous (see Ole Miss) because it’s harder to know what to expect from them each year with so many new talented players

Great player.
We are loaded at ILB.
But we would be better if we had a healthy JDJ.

Mizzou just added a 4th transfer in Georgia OLB/DE Darris Smith.

Of course it will change…Kentucky just added another stud IOL Jalen Farmer from Florida.

Kentucky usually does a pretty good job filling holes in the portal. We don't take too many. Almost everyone we've got the last few years has panned out with the rare exception like Joey Gatewood who was a waste of a roster spot.

Like he did the last two years out of necessity? We have three portal commitments. The roster is at a point now where we don't have to take a bunch of guys from the portal. You don't build championship programs relying more on the portal than signing and developing high school players.

LSU isn't looking to bring in some defensive talent through the portal?

I was thinking today that the portal is benefitting the SEC a ton...
which then hurts the SEC because its so damn competitive. But looking at the transfers out vs transfers in our teams are seeing a positive net.
in our case, we dumped out a ton of transfers who were dead weight. Yeah it looks bad at first glance, but our only real loss was Juice. Outside of that it wasnt anyone getting snaps really

Ignoring the hook.
But you are correct in the sense that it gives schools that have not traditionally been blue bloods to make the jump.
Those who are willing to invest will reap the rewards. You’ll probably see some power houses fade due to the inability to adapt or a fanbase not committing to the NIL.
