Consider this, Butch has a 4M(?) per year contract. Keeping that contract is predicated solely and exclusively on one thing winning. Immense pressure from the AD and fanbase to win. Nobody REALLY cares about doing things the "right way". They only act like they care when they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

I don't think Butch has ever struck anybody as a man of high integrity or great moral fiber, but the people signing his checks are asking him to do one thing. Hes not keeping his job by graduating kids, or keeping them out of trouble, high apr scores etc.

Butch may be a real piece of shite. I don't know the man, but more than likely hes falling into the trap a lot of people do. When hes trying to cover up rapes or protect players on his team, hes doing things he likely knows are wrong and he likely does not feel good about doing them but hes doing them for money.

Everyone has a price, and we probably found what Butch's is.

The situations are different of course, but I'm not immune to your point.

It isn't just college athletics. Every business i have ever worked for is so up its own arse that they refuse to fix important simple problems because it'd require them to be honest.

I agree with you.

We should expect more BS like this in the future from almost any school.

And which "school" is the most responsible for jumping up coaches salaries?

We get more bang for our buck than any other football team. Maybe any other basketball team. College or pro.

So suck it.

except there's a real chance if this is all true that he gets fired, so obviously that's not true.

You can still be a stand up guy, and be successful in the SEC.

But it is true. No one within the AD cared about it until it went public and now it's making the University look bad

What's really weak, but also not surprising, is an LSU fan passively questioning the validity of any school with what is going on in Baton Rouge at the moment.

They are paid to do a job and do it the right way. "Cutting corners" for success is not what Tennessee or other schools are paying for.
