This is a prefect example of what one could say to answer the question. It was clearly a shot.

In the response to what, I'm assuming, is something along the lines of "So why did you take a lateral move"?
"I thought at this time of my career venturing out would help me grow both as a coach and a person"

It would have been easy. He took a shot here

the decision to leave Auburn was tough but, I did not view this as a literally move because it gives me the opportunity to develop additional skill sets that will help achieve my ultimate goal of one day being a head coach.

3-headed monster, even though AU is more respected than a&m and arky combined.

Is it spin to say that Craig felt like he couldn't meet his personal and team goals at Auburn?

No spin is when you take a positive comment and think it also means something negative for someone else

piggy has a hard time with the realization that no matter how many times they beat LSU, there are still no fricks given about them.

How many coaches have to leave before the Aubs realize there is a huge problem with the captain of the ship?

Only Aubie & Aggy could possibly think LSU to Auburn is a lateral move.

What does Aggy have to do with this?

LSU fans really live and die by Aggy.

Getting the chance to work with coach Miles is definitely not a lateral move

In reading it again, I see what you mean. I think it was poorly worded, but he was just trying to give props to LSU and Miles. Although it still is odd that he left in the first place.

employee praises employer, disparages former employer.

Gotta be the first time this has ever happened, right?
