Kiffin didn't do him any favors with the plays he was calling. He had him scared to throw across the middle and downfield. He got worse as the year went on, in part due to the play calling/coaching.

That was Saban, IMO.

You really think Kiffin wanted to run that BS offense? fricking QB designed runs on 3rd and long? I don't think so.

Saban influenced him. Saban knew his defense was amazing, and once they got up by a score or two, they could just freeze the game, instead of risking a true freshman QB throwing the ball on long down and distances. Just like the LSU game.

Yes, they won games. But at the same time, they stunted Hurts' growth and didn't allow him to develop at all. Also didn't let him gain too much confidence throwing the ball in important situations.

Alabama's defense was great, but maybe it was TOO great. It allowed their mediocre offense to skate by all season. Until they faced a team with a dynamic offense that could score on their dominant defense. Then we saw the result.

But to say that there is "no excuse" to have failed to win more national championships in clearly the GREATEST RUN IN MODERN CFB HISTORY is pretty stupid.

Didn't say anything about our OL.

He broke rushing records. Hurts throwing the ball is utter trash. He will continue to be utter trash throwing. He is a RB playing QB, thats it.

Him not being able to throw cost you guys the chip. If you had even close to a serviceable throwing QB, you would have won easily.

Bama bias only explanation why that dude won that award.

If he's qb for anyother team and had same exact stats he's not even in the conversation.

You stupid motherfricker, the SEC HEAD COACHES voted him the award! ..think they're biased?

Jeebus, Hurts had the best passer rating and QBR of a true freshman receiver in the history of college football outside of Terrell Pryor.
Mainly because of wide receiver screens and pop passes to a receiver in motion. He's terrible 10 + yards down field. He was a liability in games where Alabama played anyone worth a shite on defense.

I wouldn't be shocked if he lost the quarterback competition this summer to the freshman.

This 100%. Its easy to have the best passer rating when you run spread and your only throws are less than 10 yards. Little digs, slants, bubble screens, or RB screens. Its a joke.

Hurts against LSU - 10-19, 107 yards, I INT.
Hurts against Clemson - 13-13, 131 yards , 1 TD.

Staaaaaaaaahp Daves.

If Bama were smart, they would grab another QB, flip hurts to RB.

Blake Barnett would've been the better quarterback for Alabama in the long run, IMO.

He fumbles way too much to be a RB. Hopefully, Tua or Jones will beat him out early.

This really surprised me as well. He had so many fumbles. I didn't get it.

He fumbled so much, Saban made him start going through strip drills with the RB's.

Yea, can't wait to have another true freshman starting who has to spend an entire year adjusting to the speed of the game and throwing to spots. Sounds like a fantastic idea. Tua would be adjusting from Hawaii public high school defenses to Florida State, LSU and Auburn. I'm sure he'd just fly right through it with no issues

Quick, somebody tell me the last true freshman QB who immediately appeared to be in charge of the offense and able to throw route trees?

Jalen has to improve a lot in his passing, both accuracy wise and reading things. The biggest jump for this is usually between the first and second year, especially for a true freshman. If he isn't better next year, then it will be time to start wondering and thinking about other options. Until then, this is silliness.
