No cult here..I'm just doing normal everyday shite.

Now excuse me I am going to ritualisticly shite paper these venerated dying arse oakes with 20k of my very close fambly members who i have never met before.
Celebrating a win at a certain place isn't the same as getting up everyday worshiping a certain person because how great you think they are or what they do and devoting your life to trying to convince the rest of the world they should believe the same thing.
Even going so far as to destroy, torture, and kill in the name of his deeds, to anyone that makes him look bad or doesn't give him the recognition you think he or his deeds deserve. Of course then idolizing the ones that carry out these actions in his name as if they are prophets.
It may not be a cult or religion but it has a lot similarities.

well if you want to get all sorts of technical with it sports fandom is inherently cultish
you wear similar colors, have revered figures, social norms, common sayings, and practices that outwardly show your faith
but I guess this is a thread trying to say we're bat shite crazy? Yes we are
deal with it

well in that sense any tradition at any sporting even could be classified as "cultish"
it's an established symbol that identifies you as a member of that team
by this logic yelling "War Eagle" for a bird that died like 90 years ago is just as cultish
it's all cultish, we're going bat shite crazy talking shite to each other on the internet concerning the athletic ability of 18 - 22 year olds that wear colors we like
you're just now figuring out this is a bit fricked in the head? go the bammer route buddy embrace the insanity

It's rich coming from AU people. Both fan bases are "fanatical." But really if anyone is a "cult" it is AU. The downtrodden, the oppressed, the creed, unfairly put upon, fambly, all in, us against the world?
Definition of a cult.

You can't be both a cult and a bunch of bandwagon sidewalk fans. Let us know when you've figured out which generalization you want to go with.

Cults are, by their nature, exclusive. Wonder whose board on an sec site is completely closed off to all outsiders.

LOL at y'all thinking each other is a cult. You haven't SEEN cult until you've interacted with Ags. We're the only real cult in this conference.

Thank you for the contribution from the Texas "Don't Forget About US!" A&M fans.

Nobody is even close to Alabama in this fanatical fan department. Just go back and read the original post in this thread. No fan base is more likely to kill over a football game than the bammer fan base. I can name multiple examples of Alabama fans killing other people or trying to kill other people over football. Nobody even compares to Alabama in the coach worship department either

Seriously though...don't forget about us.

quote:Cults don't allow dissenting opinions and this is another perfect example of Alabama being a cult. Every single Albama website on the internet will instantly ban any poster who doesn't drink the bammer kool aid. The Alabama scout board set up a smack board a few years ago. However, the smack talk was only allowed to go one way. Any rival fan who attempted to talk smack was banned

I spend most of my time away from here on rivals. The free board on the Auburn rivals site doesn't even have mods, and anybody can post anything they want

Auburn officials believe this is not the first time a fan has dumped the remains of a former family member on the field.
"It happens a lot more than you think," McElroy said. "People want their final resting place to be Jordan-Hare Stadium.

quote:
It really speaks to the level of Alabama fanaticism. If you look closely, you will see the first people to make it to the field for the autograph session is a couple with a baby in the stroller. Eventually, they realized the stroller would keep them from being the first to get Nick Saban’s signature so the adult male scoops up the infant and runs with him to the end zone to greet the Crimson Tide coach. Enjoy.”

Back to my question...are we bandwagon sidewalk fans, or fanatical cult members? You can't be both.
In a semi-serious vein, the most common characteristic of a cult is that they are defined by what they are not. In every cult, one of the primary themes is that they have the "real" answer, and they aren't deluded like "everyone else out there". There is an intense defensiveness of their own worth, and an incessant desire to show that they have a special status or favor of the Divine.
You know what I'm saying? It's a God thing, right?
