We have friends who have two A Club tickets they have been trying to sell for face ($450/each) and can't get any takers.

That's a helluva lot less than when we went to Glendale, we were in row 2 of the uppers about the 10 yard line and the people right behind us (Oregon fans) paid $1500 each for their tickets...wow.

I will say Glendale is a LONG trip from the east to make a two day trip....I wish we had planned about 4 days there.

Actually, Frontier has the direct flight for $179 right now.

Also, American has a direct flight to Phoenix for $457 right now, 4.5 hours. Finally the is a flight for $257 from Atl to Phoenix that is 8.5 hours right now.

Tons of options from Atl to Phoenix or Vegas that are cheap. And they run buses from Vegas to the game on Monday. Did that staying in Vegas in 2013 for AU.

Wow, yea that is a gimme. Plus, with Vegas you know you can get a great hotel room for like $50 a night. Rent a car or hop on one of those buses and that can be a pretty cheap trip relative to others.

I do think the biggest issue with the 2 game setup is people getting travel put together 10 days before a game. In the old system everyone could book flights and other travel things 30-40 days in advance. Now people have to hurry, they look online and see crazy flight prices on priceline or the airline sites and it scares them off (understandably).

I had to dig and do different one-way flights on separate airlines, but it really made things cost-effective.

The biggest problem I had when I looked the week after the SEC Championship game was return flights from Phoenix. There were several options for getting there from Atlanta, but unless I was willing to stay until Wednesday, the return options were very limited, or very expensive.

Yeah, you have to stay a few days. I stayed in Vegas till the Wed after the game and got a direct flight back to miami for about 200 in 2013. Plus I go to vegas and gamble several times a year, so my room was comped the entire time. Still, vegas hotel rooms are cheap, like 50 bucks a night if you stay at one of the average casinos like flamingos, harrahs, paris, etc. Just not the wynn, nobu, aria, etc.

Yea, we initially were flying there on Southwest and ended up flying back on United leaving at 8:30 AM, routing through DC and getting us back to Atlanta at about 8 PM. I think it ended up being $160 a person.

I really was hoping to find a red-eye that left around 2 AM Tuesday morning to totally cut out a hotel all together, but their only overnight left at 12:30 AM and that was cutting it too close.

Yeah, I know. I was in vegas this past weekend. They said 300k were in town and 170k would be there this week for CES.

Still, you can find rooms for 75 bucks or so even this week.

Sadly they dont pair AVN with CES anymore. When we played in 2010/11, I had my rooms comped by a vendor(stayed in a suite), did CES for the week. Then partied at a bunch of events for both CES and AVN at some venues a friend managed. The vivd entertainment party was interesting

Then Sunday drove to Scottsdale, Monday the game

For Dallas

- Airfare was around $350 round trip
- My portion of hotel was $150
- Ticket was $225 out front

For Phoenix
- Airfare was around $400
- Ticket I think will be around $400
- I am not staying in a hotel so all in all I got out with it pretty cheap. Won't be in Phoenix for more than the pregame and game though.

Plus factor in spending money. Dallas was expensive as we stayed for a longer time and it was NYE and all

The hardest part for Phoenix was finding anyone who would go with me and try and put a trip together in such a short period of time

The ole business excuse for a pleasure trip.

I think I need to find a few "potential audit clients" in San Diego/Central Arizona to make this thing even more worthful. Good thinking NYC.

- I found one that left at 1:35 a.m. and booked it. Hoping we don't go to OT or anything like that.

Nice. Yea, I decided anything after about 1 AM I would be on board for. 12:30 was just cutting it too close. 3.5 hour game, end around 10-1015 local time, if we win not going to want to sprint out of there, no idea of traffic situation around that stadium and trying to get out, etc etc. Just wasn't enough time in there.

I think that part of the problem is that fans spend major bowl bucks going to the semi-final game, then have to pony up again for the NC game.

For a lot of the Bama walmart employees, thats more money than an hourly wage and foodstamps will support.

Ya, I was lucky to go in 2011 and got told to leave the stadium by security after the ceremony was over and we were still hanging around, so I won't be too mad if I don't get to stick around after a win. I found this thing called wingz.com where you can book a drive to pick you up from somewhere and take you to the airport so I will probably book that for 11:00 or so. No bags or anything (I am flying in monday morning) so I figure the airport should be a breeze at that time of night.

What is interesting is probably 2/3 of my friends sat up the semi-final game (both last year and this year) to go to the championship game.

Pretty sure the 85% ain't going to many championship type games.

Nice, yea that was my other concern was finding an Uber. I'd heard terror stories from trying to figure that out after a big game like this where everyone is from out of town. I'll have to check that website out.

Good luck man, hope everything goes according to plan. You are executing what was my perfect plan when I initially started planning this thing.

I'm kind of afraid of missing my flight if the game goes long, was trying to figure out how long the championship game lasted in 2014.

- if we can pull off a 9 minute clock burn drive in the fourth it would help me out in a number of ways.
