Well said. Some people have a selective memory that excludes facts when they want to push along a certain agenda.

Reese is the biggest star in women's college basketball in a very long time,
This is laughable.
As someone who has never sat down and watched a women’s basketball game intentionally - as in ever, I found myself tuning in to watch Clark play because of how dominant she was. I quite literally had never heard of Reese until she played against Clark.
We are many. The bubble of Louisiana sports is not the norm. People weren’t first time viewers of women’s basketball because of Reese. People were first time viewers of women’s basketball because of Caitlin Clark.

Your post reads as an assertion that Reese was largely responsible for growing support for the game, which is absolutely not true
Maybe not in your inner circle, but the end of the game antics (which I don’t necessarily approve of) caused a controversy that put Angel Reese on the forefront of not just sports, but all media in America. Angel Reese is now a well know celebrity around this country.
If you put all of the finalists for that award in a lineup, Angel Reese would be the most recognizable to the average person across America. That’s just facts. The award wasn’t for “best player”, the award was for “breakthrough athlete”.

Holy shite. Not only are you a moron, you are literally crying about women's basketball and agreeing with blatantly racist comments comparing a black female athlete to a "gorilla in a dress."

Glad we can all agree this is the only reason she’s “famous.”

You couldn't be more off base, and it wouldn't take long to figure that out. One can be conservative without being racist like you.

I guess you just continue showing everyone how stupid, racist, and butthurt you are.

Ahhhhh yes. So I guess the fact that Reese hugged and congratulated Clark in the portal to the locker room just like...never happened I guess? They knew each other before and will play together in the future.
The LSU and Iowa teams both embraced after the game and congratulated each other, FWIW (it was on video on local media).
And I thought y'all's colors were Kotex Crimson, not GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN ????

I guess it was the drama that won her the award...
I mean, wasn't she All American last season, and a unanimous 1st Team preseason All American this year? It's not like she came out of nowhere (within the sport), although she was incredibly consistent.
But I guess whatever gets attention.
Reminds me of Dennis Rodman. I remember people saying, for a long time he used to wear jeans and a plain T shirt while in Detroit. And had great rebounding and defensive numbers. No attention or recognition at all. Suddenly, he becomes a public freak, and turns into one of the most prominent NBA players of his era.

Can't they just be haters? I mean isn't she a huge bitch?
If I don't like a black player on your team, I'm automatically labeled a racist?
Cool. I'm good with that. Name call away.
I don't know much about this story other that it's all about taunting or some shite.
Man. We need more exciting lives. Maybe we wouldn't care about all this stupid crap.

quote:But no one gave a shite about Reese until the game was over. Clark was the reason people watched.
The NCAA championship game between LSU and Iowa reportedly had 9.9 million viewers, the most ever for a women's basketball game. The ESPN award is a nod to Reese's role in growing fan interest in the game itself.

And Reese, while she has the consistent numbers, doesn't make spectacular plays- the girls' game isn't where you highlight a forward or center.
But LSU won, and she does have the numbers. So, kudos to her for cashing in on that moment.

quote:was in response to the question,'Why her (Reese)?'. You can melt about why people watched the game all you want, but LSU won and Reese was the MVP of the most watched women's basketball game in the history of the sport. That's why she got the award.
