Good for him! Please produce the list, I'd love to see it!
I'd love to see the list of bama and Georgia targets that suffered a career ending injury in high school.
It's about one name long.
That kid only had one offer at the end of the day.
I know a lot of good hearted Nicaraguan children that would be flabbergasted frankly.

Awesome. to Bama and aTm

We get what you're saying. But at the end of the day the kid gets to go to college when he might not have had a chance to. Either way, that's a feel good story. Plus, I guarantee you he has it in his head that he can come back from the injury, nobody but Alabama is giving him that chance.
At the end of the day, the kid gets into a great school for free and I truly hope he makes the best of it. But there is no frickin' way Saban will ever free up a scholarship for this kid to actually play.
I mean, c'mon.
That having been said, Saban is playing it extremely smart, as always.

But you know I'm right, so ... whatever.

had to make up for yanking that RB's scholly that got hurt a couple of years ago.

Are you angry UGA didn't do this? Were you once injured and that injury caused you to miss an opportunity. Perhaps your mother wouldn't let you play football because you were smaller than other kids and she was afraid you'd be hurt.
Tell us about your mother. Talking about will help heal the pain.

Don't be such a negative Nancy.

Nobody said he gave up a spot for him. Nobody gave up a spot for him. Nobody allowed him to keep his dream alive, well, accept Alabama.

I'm sure ES could give 2 shits why Saban did it. He gets to go to college for free and gets to work in the football facility as part of the team. I would gladly take that any day.

Kind of, yeah. Like I said - it's a very smart move by Saban. He didn't lose a thing, wormed his way into a top H.S. in Georgia, and now has fools all over the South thinking he's Ghandi.
Brilliant.

Exactly.
Saban does all he can to win, but he also does what he can for the kids when he has the opportunity. I know your hate won't let you accept that, but it's true.

I'd like to think whichever school he chose would have done it, but we can't know for sure.
If this doesn't affect the football team, why was it Saban's decision? Or did he simply request it and the school had to approve? Either way, good for the kid.

That kids scholly was never yanked. Just like Philon, he was asked to greyshirt. He didn't want to do that so he chose to accept a scholarship from kentucky

Has Bama yanked a scholly due to an injury? Or just offered the grey shirt route which is really just a delay while the kid gets better. UGA fans will disagree but yanking vs asking to greyshirt are two very different things.
And fine, I'll get real and admit Saban wouldn't do this if it counted against our schollies. I'm fine with that, he's paid to win, within the rules. When he can do something nice like this he will. It's a travesty Richt couldn't follow Saban's example here. Like others have said, a kid is getting a chance at a free shot because of the actions of Alabama. But it doesn't fit your (ond certainly not the revisionist AJC's) narrative, so you just want the story to go away.

That's all I'm saying. It was a smart move by Saban, but he would NOT have done it if it hurt his scholly numbers in any way, shape, or form.
All that other stuff you put in your post is just you being butthurt that I somehow ruined Saban's Kumbayah moment with his closest fans.
Posted on 2/6/14 at 1:23 pm to allin2010
Maybe he can get back on the field, but good the hear the young man has a free education.
Posted on 2/6/14 at 1:35 pm to GoldenDawg
The rest of my post is relevant as of course it is a UGA fan who storms in here crying foul when a kid gets a free education. I never have a problem with taking things with a grain of salt, but the level of brainwashing going on in GA regarding Saban and recruiting is outrageous. Every little possible slight of a recruit by Saban is poured over ad nauseam by fans and media alike. But not a peep out of the AJC on this story which has become a (albeit small) national story? I can see the sports staff huddled in the AJC situation room now, trying to decide if this story has grown sufficiently to require a response.

Y'know, that is some top notch ranting.
However:
A. I never cried foul. I think it was a brilliant move and would have been psyched if UGA had pulled it off.
B. I am very happy for any kid that gets a free education.
I mean, sorry you got so rustled over this, but Saban only did it because it helps Alabama with no down side.
Again, I understand you Bama homers getting all rustled if I'm not towing the line on your firm belief that Saban is a Saint of God, if not God himself. So you're forgiven for that.
It just amused me about everyone else buying into it. Like I said, brilliant move on Saban's part. And, the thing is, you're only pissed because I'm right.
As to your feverish rant about the AJC, well ...
