Congrats Texas Aggies on hiring Coach Elko

Coach Elko was not the “shiniest object” and he is not bringing a natty trophy with him to reflect on past accomplishments. He was hired on what he is going to be. He has projected success. IMHO….. this reminds me of when LSU hired Nick Saban….he projected success…..look what happened to LSU AND Nick Saban. I am glad for all the frustrated Aggies that feel a little better today.

Always thought Elko was probably their best option.

I think Mike Elko would be the best/safest hire for a variety of reasons.
Schumman may be great but he has zero head coaching experience, that works out sometimes (ala Kirby) but often doesn't.
Elko already knows a lot about the A&M landscape and could retain a lot of the good pieces.

As an LSU fan who hates the Aggies more than any fanbase I am capable of looking at this hire objectively. Elko was always the sensible hire and made the most sense. Ags need a better culture in the building and he will bring that. If I am an Aggie fan I would want the AD gone asap. Bjork seems like a major douchebag and handled this search like a fraud

Since the day Nick Saban was hired ….LSU has 3 national championships and played for a fourth. Only 1 was with Coach Saban. So tell me how LSU went down? Or would you like to expound on the wonders of UK football…..please tell me all about UK football…..I have 30 seconds and that is about all it will take.

That's the problem though. The Stoops fiasco indicates to me that the inmates are running the asylum in College Station. What can Elko reasonably accomplish with that type of culture?

Elko did a good job at Duke. I think the Aggies made a solid hire here.

Bjork is interesting. He made it publicly clear that A&M is not an 8-4 program and that they needed to make a complete break from Jimbo. So he hires someone who worked for Jimbo and who has gone 8-4 & 7-5 in his only 2 seasons as a head coach.

If by solid you mean he was able to take mediocre players and achieve mediocre results....sure, sure...I can accept that.
