I think Sam Darnold starting at QB would give SC a better chance at winning, but the odds for this game were never in our favor. If we win it'll be because we run the ball well, the defense and special teams play lights out, and we win the turnovers by +2 or better.

SC's schedule is the toughest in the country. Wouldn't have it any other way. Fight On!

I'm pretty sure not only have the Trojans sanctions expired but that the classes that were allowed the full 25 have experience. Three phases of probation:

The on going investigation and the damage it does as other coaches can tell recruits you're going on probation. Also the transfers u have. Usually 2 years.

The probation itself where u can't sign but half what other teams can. 2 years.

The recovery to not only get numbers back to 85 but have experience in the 85. Takes about 4 years after sanctions expire.

So in this situation, which was similar to ours, it takes 8 years to "fully" recover. I believe SC investigation started in 08? So they should be pretty salty now. 2009 was our first year to have 85 that had 25 seniors and 25 juniors. Sc should be good now. This is gonna be a struggle as SC recruits lineman like we do. If we were playing UCLA no problem but if a couple things go SC' s way....I'm just ready to get going.

Yea - with a new, non running QB and a pro-style scheme, I expect USC to have trouble scoring points.

However, SC has playmakers on offense and defense. We'll have a new QB too, and if you guys make him make mistakes you can overcome the offensive issues.

I expect it to be a physical football game. Nobody is going to overlook USC.

I think this game will be a lot closer than what people are expecting.

The only way USC scores 23 points is if they score on special teams or turnovers. That's possible, though.

However - and I think USC is going to be pretty good - but their last 5 games year....

27-24 W @ Colorado (4-9)
48-28 L @ Oregon (9-4)
40-21 W vs UCLA (8-5)
41-22 L vs Stanford (12-2)
23-21 L vs Wisconsin (10-3)

That's incredibly bleh

Not to mention the death of Harry Gilmore which will become a focal rally point to draw the team closer. The grief will create a close team and that might help with the pain the players are obviously suffering.

Max Browne is a RS Junior and was the top QB recruit in the nation. Why are you looking at this as a bad thing? USC is loaded with talent and could easily beat Bama if our new QB is rusty.

Don't be silly. It never mattered who was named the starter.

At least one SCw fan already has his excuse ready. Prepare to be embarrassingly humbled SCw fans. No excuses necessary.
