The school was running a $20 million defecit when she got the job. She turned that into a $14 million surplus within two years. Seems pretty savvy.
Also, she's served on the board of directors for a number of major corporations - Hewlett Packard, Chevron, Charles Schwab, the Rand Corporation to name some.

The SEC just had two of the most forward thinking commissioners ever in college football and people are putting forth names of people who haven't made a dime for anyone. It is safe to say that no one mentioned is going to be hired. Slive's second in command, Greg Sankey, is going to take over. No need to even discuss it really.
Roy Kramer gave the world conference championship game. Slive gave the world super conferences and creating a channel by having ESPN foot the bill and send your institutions checks. Some groundbreaking stuff.
Also Penn Wagers. That is all.

She's from Bham. I've met her several times. She is smart, articulate, and extreme successful both personally and professionally. What exactly put you off by her? I'm guessing politics......

This is going to come as a surprise to some of you, but not everyone thinks the SEC is Utopia.
I'd bet Dr. Rice wouldn't leave PAC territory for the SEC if her life depended on it.
