I went back to 1955 to give this some longevity on the historical performances of coaches at LSU.
Paul Dietzel (1955-1961) 46-24-3 - won national title
Charles McClendon (1962-1979) 137-59-7 (most wins)
Jerry Stovall (1980-1983) 22-21-2
Bill Amsparger (1984=1986) 26-8-2
Mike Archer (1987-1990) 27-18-1
Curley Hallman (1991-1994) 16-28
Gerry DiNardo (1995-1999) 33-24-1
Nick Saban (2000-2004) 48-16 - won national title
Les Miles (2005-present) 103-29 (highest win percentage) - won national title
So Les has a higher win percentage at LSU than the Great Saban did and he has been there much longer. By any stretch of the imagination Miles is the best coach LSU has ever had. Take a look back at what the 80s and 90s were like because that's where you're headed. Ask Tennessee what its like to fall from the pinnacle you'll be there soon. There is no homerun coach out there short of Harbaugh or Belichick that is going to march down to LSU and bring you to a higher place. SEC competition almost killed Urban Meyer he's not coming back either. Florida knows what its like to fall from the top too.
Go ahead...fire Les.

Would you trade Les Miles for Bret Bilema

Hmmm...lets see... Hogs start off 1-3 after losing to 2 shitty teams. The wheels could have easily fallen off the bus at that point. A good coach prevents that from happening so, yeah, Bert's a pretty damn good coach.

Honest opinion is all I'm offering...no trolling.

I'm trying to think of a situation where I, as an LSU fan, would care enough to do a comparative analysis of the historical merits of Arkansas head coaches and I'm coming up with a BIG OLE NOPE

Because you must be delusional that's all I can come up with.

You left Bo Rein and Hal Hunter off of your list. Bo Rein was a home-run hire before he suddenly died. Stovall was a last-second replacement for him.

That's what I've been trying to tell them. LSU fans had a little taste of success and are now like crackheads looking for another hit.

Well should be good for the rest of the league then, why worry

Why would you not want more success?
What's the point if you aren't trying?

I saw a couple of names on there with very few games I assumed they were interim coaches or something.

How about you worry about Arkansas and not winning championships. Looking back on your coaching history

Cogitate on that a while and then get back to me.

I'm telling you I had no idea what LSU coaching records were before I looked it up. I thought there might be another national title or two back in the day...nope.
Just refer back to this little history lesson when LSU goes the way of Tennessee for at least 3 years if its a decent hire. Who is the home run hire?

Go look at recruiting rankings
count the Louisiana recruits in the top 100
Count the Tennessee recruits in the top 100
while you are at it go count Nebraska recruits int eh top 100.
Then get back to me.
