No he wasn't, he was going to hire him as Director of Player Development.

Usually when a HS coach jumps to the college game the first step is an off the field role like DPD or an analyst. It's rare these days to jump directly to an on field assistant role, especially a coordinator position. Malzahn is the only one I can think of and that's because Houston Nutt was crazy.

That other direction was Probst's DC at Hoover:

Jeremy Pruitt... I believe you've heard his name a few times since then.

Yeah, he's an Arkansas HS football coaching legend. But I asked for Alabama coaches... reading comprehension never has been a strong suit of the Alabama fan base

So he's a great high school football coach. I know several of them. Most are good people. So why do we elevate this jackass to legendary status and feed his god complex? frick Probst. If he had played his cards right, kept his dick in his pants and been a decent human being, he'd be at a college somewhere right now. As it is, he's stuck at the level he's at.

If he got on his knees and prayed to God for forgiveness, I'm sure it has been given. Who are you to judge?

People love to preach about morals, but we are all human and at one point we will make a bad, selfish, or immoral decision. It is unavoidable by all who have walked Earth with the exception of Christ.

He was and still is a great coach. Him being a horrible husband/father doesn't change that.

I believe there was also accusations of grade changing for football players.

I remember the grade changing accusations, and recruiting kids from out of district when parents/families of top talented players relocated into the district to play for the Bucs. Rush had a lot of "resources" at his disposal to build that program into a power.

Man you are quick to defend Rush (and bash Niblett) at every opportunity. Be honest bruh. Is your last name Probst?

As a matter of fact he absolutely got a a lot of guys scholarships that wouldn't have gotten them without him

He held it over them as if HE was the reason...see visual proof of what a dickhead, arrogant, egomaniac he was

HE CHEATS! His titles are tainted. How hard is it to win at largest school in the state that also cheats.

Irony is ironical

I remember hearing how great he was and how they were the best team in america at a 6a school in birmingham. I saw their mtv reality show and I knew that john curtis was going to go over there and whip their arse. Jt curtis schooled the shite out of him. Joe mcknight is still running btw.

All I'm gonna say is its pretty damn impressive the guy ran the most known HS dynasty at the time while managing 2 families a hundred or so miles apart and keeping it a secret while reality tv cameras were following him around. That's some high level competency and manipulation.

Let me say as having a son who played for Rush. Rush was always great with my son and family. Niblett same as Rush. Rush screwed up with the affair off the field. I also have a family member still works in the system today. She always said Rush was nice to her never had a problem. He was blamed for a lot by the sister school who controlled the BOE at the time. The grade changing deal was BS. A kid got his grade rounded from a 89.3 to a 90.0.
Another kid got to retake a test. Maybe not the perfect thing but not to level headline media made it out to be.
Hoover did not have to recruit the winning did it for them.

All formal players love Rush.
He screwed up but not to the as haters made it out to be.

Most did not like him because he whipped their arse.

That video he told those kids you got to play better or I can't tell a college coach you a good enough when your not. Just telling the truth to kids.

His cussing and college style coaching never effected my son. Just thin skinned mama boys.

yeah just cause Curtis boat raced Hoover with the best player in the country one year doesn't mean that Hoover was overrated that entire run. That game was also very early in the season and couldve been totally different at the end.

I think Hoover should have given him a 2nd chance. Funny the off the field issues ended when he went to Colquitt. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Sounds like Colquitt has better leadership than Hoover.

I just wanna know how in the hell you raise 2 families with one not knowing about the other while there's reality tv camera following you around. That's just incredible to me. Did his other family not have a tv or something? Or even know that their dad was considered the best high school football coach in the country? It just doesn't make sense to me.
