Take a long weekend and use it to visit some spots in Texas. Alamo / Austin / Houston(ehh) / Dallas / San Antonio.

The closest of those (Houston) is about 90 miles from B/CS. You definitely couldn't "take a long weekend" and visit any more than 1 of those places AND catch a football game.

Seen it. very underwhelmed.

Austin

Been. It's good, but overrated.

Houston(ehh) / Dallas

Who the hell visits these places? These really aren't "vacation" or "touristy" spots. They are flat, cookie cutter, spread out, strip mall cities. But that's a whole different story there...

Buy a plane ticket and then rent a car for a 2 hour ride? I'd be okay with it if I were going to a place like Athens, Nashville, Austin, Fayettville, etc. not College Station, TX. College Station is where good times go to die (and i'm not talking about on the football field).

To be fair, it's about 90 miles. Also, College Station does have an airport.

Yeah, A&M is in BFE really, quite a drive to anywhere of interest.

... it's not like every SEC school is centered on a fricking tourist destination. I don't think people are taking long weekends to see what Baton Rouge has to offer..

Oxford to College Station - 656 miles (10 hours 20 minutes)
Tuscaloosa to College Station - 665 miles (10 hours 30 minutes)

I think it has something to do with the Interstate travel? Tuscaloosa is right on I-20. Oxford is about 20 miles or so away from an Interstate. I'm just wondering if that 10hrs 20 minutes is the route that goes from Memphis to Dallas and then down.

Whew....that's a lotta driving.

The tv money is where its at, so I doubt that the driving distance for the approximately 10K fans from each school who travel to road games is a concern to any of the SEC brass.

Question on the tv contract, if the SEC expands, does it reopen the tv deal for renegotiation?

Texas A&M does offer a unique environment that no other university in the country can provide.

Just keep Bama fans away from your tree.

I don't think Vandy would get in on beating aTm. I do think though that aTm would be the new Kentucky of football in the conference.
