We did the same thing to the auburn fans about Cam Newton and Nick Marshall. We laughed at them for months. I hope it ends up the same way for us as it did for them.

It's surprising that so many auburn fans are making the same mistake we did. We'll find out soon enough whether he makes an impact. Alabama fans go ape shite over recruits ALL THE TIME. Why do you guys let it bother you? You just played in the national title game!

These LSU and Boog fans in 1986:

Why are all these UCLA fans so excited about this Oklahoma QB Troy Aikman transferring in? He was injured and if he was any good Switzer would be starting him instead of the Freshman

Was this kid 6 ft 5 in 230 lbs coming out of high school?

No. He was a lanky 210 out of high school. He didn't hit all of these camps and showcases like a lot of kids do. He threw for FSU early in the process, got an offer and basically shut down his recruitment.

This.

quote:

"I didn't throw it a lot," Coker said, when asked why he thinks he was only labeled as a three-star guy. "I didn't go to any of those Rivals camps. I guess it was an exposure thing."

David Cutcliffe protege, David Morris, a former Ole Miss quarterback who now trains QBs in the Mobile area, including AJ McCarron, put together a "Throws" tape on Coker for college recruiters.

"It was essentially a Pro Day," said Morris. "It was the first one I'd ever done. You could see easily he can make all the throws."

Coker, a lifelong Alabama fan, went to camps at Duke and FSU and was offered at both. He committed to Florida State.

"I came to (FSU) camp and I didn't think Alabama was very interested to be honest," Coker told CBS a few days ago. "I was a 3-star guy coming out. I didn't know how many offers I'd get. FSU was the first offer I got. The program was on the rise. I really liked Coach (Dameyune) Craig. I trusted him and Coach (Jimbo) Fisher was the same. I knew he was gonna take it to the national championship eventually."

Lots of interest in this 3 star from other fanbases..

They seem to be worried or shook by these developments. Pretty strange to me.

I am going to venture to guess that this kid is no Cam Newton.

The thing that will be interesting to watch with Coker is he won't have a legit QB coach. Kiffin has NEVER coached QBs. So you have a pretty raw talent coming in to be coached by a guy with now history of developing QBs.

Both AU guys are victims of circumstance and HAD to go to JuCo so don't post that BS because Coker didn't get kicked out or leave his 1st college

And it is rather naive t think he wouldn't have done the exact same thing at any JuCo if he decided to go that route

My point went right over your head, so I will spell it out for you. Cam and Nick had competed on the field in college, albeit at the JUCO level. Coker has not done shite at the college level. Auburn had seen those two guys play and had an idea of what they were getting. Nobody has any idea of what kind of college QB Coker is. It isn't hard to understand......for most people.

I guess youve missed this quote some of the bama fans are hanging their hat on

Jameis is Tim Tebow now, but Coker is Cam Newton

He's spent 3 years under Fisher now. I'm not sure if I'd consider him raw at this point, just unproven

A QB that ran the ball 70% of the time in high school and that hasn't taken a meaningful college snap is pretty raw.

eta: Not to mention he's only been playing the game for a grand total of 4 years.

So? Other than HS, it doesn't make a difference if they played before that. We have two RS Freshmen and a True Freshmen that are options, and how much have they played? I don't count anything before HS, and being a backup in HS does you no good.

I don't care if he's raw, he has the ability, if he can win the job (which he won't do with just that ability) for Saban, he'll just be asked to hand it off to a three headed monster of a backfield and throw to future NFL players like Cooper and Howard.

Any QB we turn to will have limited time under center. So I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Thankfully we still have Saban and his staff working on the 2014 season.

We all assumed you already had. That's why you surprised us this past year.
