You guys would be excited averaging a 10-3 season? Because, I think that you wouldn't.

Well you are absolutely right in that some fans would not be happy. But averaging 10-3 is more likely to look like 11-2, 8-5, 10-3, 12-1, 9-4. One playoff year, one NY6 year, 3 respectable years. And I would be okay with that. Bama aside, most every SEC team would be okay with that.

So my question here is, hypothetically, if Coach O over say the next 5 years, averages 10 wins a year (including bowl game), where would you rank him as an SEC coach (1 to 14)?

So, basically, you're asking where we rank him among SEC coaches IF he as able to duplicate the success levels of the guy you fired?

They could've played until the sun came up and LSU wouldn't have scored on Alabama.

The offense was not very likely to, but Bama was locked down by LSU's D too. At any point in the first 3 quarters and into the fourth, LSU could have returned a punt, or scored on a turnover, and pulled it out. We also missed a FG in the 1st quarter that could have mattered. It was a close game that one or two big plays could have changed the outcome.

I am not comparing Coach O to Nick Saban, but if you compare Nick's coaching skills from say his tenure at Michigan St (not terribly successful) to now, it looks like he learned from experience doesn't it?

The little tike did poorly in the NFL so that means he's a terrible coach. That's how it works around here.

LSU's defense was great, but Alabama moved the ball in spurts most of the game. LSU had nothing at all. They didn't even come close to scoring after the 1st drive when they were handed the ball in FG range and promptly moved backwards.

Alabama had drives of
9 plays, 32 yards
9 plays, 67 yards
5 plays, 54 yards
12 plays, 90 yards
15 plays, 50 yards

LSU had drives of
6 plays, 37 yards
11 plays, 40 yards
6 plays, 15 yards
2 plays, 15 yards

Those were literally their only 4 drives that gained over 10 yards. They had 1 2nd half drive that got more than 10 yards.

Alabama had 325 yards of offense. LSU had 125.

O is good because he won't actually do any coaching.

nothing about coach O but this line of thinking is wrong.

This only works at the bottom rung of management. Managers who do actual work beyond maintaining their personnel and overseeing duties are a joke. They get stuck at these bottom levels because no-one looking to promote you will take you seriously if you try to be part of the team instead of being a boss. you're much better off complaining and showing how an increased payroll is needed than to talk about how you step in to help when you don't have the payroll or personnel in place to get the work done.

No idea how this relates to football, but I hear this kind of thing so often.

LSU will be looking for a new coach after averaging 8 wins a year the next 3 years.

LSU fans can fool themselves all they want, but everyone else knows how bad a decision LSU made by hiring O.

Will go down as one of the worst hires in LSU history.

I expect LSU fans to rationalize the hire. It's what fans do. Maybe it will work out for you.

Nah. Curley and Lou Tepper would be those. Coach O at the very least will recruit enough to win the 8 games Miles was doing at the end. He isn't going to be an actual loser. Perhaps a disappointment, but not a loser.

The story of LSU football for the last 3 seasons. If they could have, they would have won more than 8 regular season games in '14, '15, '16.

Actually he was D.C. At Ole Miss and tries to do everything himself.

That's like starting a company in your garage and saying that you work as a CEO. He's never been a real DC before.

We weren't going to lose to McNeese State in 2015 or S Alabama in 2016. So due to circumstances that actually were beyond the team's control, we missed out a win both those seasons. Not wins that would have mattered, but you guys count the cupcake wins too.

A good manager of any business is good because he or she does one of two things. They either know how to do the things they are responsible for doing at a high level, or they find others who do those things at a high level and delegate the work to them.

Coach O is that second guy. He finds people that excel and lets them do their thing. He finds good players and good asst coaches. The only X and O area he involves himself in is helping the Dline because that is a skill he does have.

So my question here is, hypothetically, if Coach O over say the next 5 years, averages 10 wins a year (including bowl game), where would you rank him as an SEC coach (1 to 14)? Given, he will likely have to replace both OC and DC at least once in that span, and do so successfully. If he does that well, does he get your respect?

Coach O will have to actually "coach" football, he will have make X & O decisions throughout the week of prep and at crucial points on game day.

He will have to make important decisions regardless of how great and fantastic is staffers are. All kinds of assumptions and hypothetical's can be made, but "if" he finds a way to win 10 games a year consistently then he will have earned respect from his SEC brethren.
