Pretty common for HC's. Meyer did one on ST as well when he first got to UF, and that's why he always put such a huge emphasis on certain things in ST and how they effect the outcome of the game.

Yeah I don't think it's odd at all. You have 8 months of watching film in between seasons. You could easily knock something like that out in that time.

You would be surprised the amounts of information coaches are capturing. This is why there are large support staffs and they are doing plenty of work behind the scenes. My nephew was involved in several different studies and gathering info as a GA.

Muschamp likes this proposal because it puts us one step closer to banning offense altogether.
Didn't he already do that at Florida this year?

Well, I respect his opinion. He was honest with it. I just wished that some of these people around here would not lead so much with their heart and use their mind.

Exactly he pretended he was neutral and then takes the side of defense by plugging in 'officials having a tough time' instead of safety.

He makes a valid point regarding the impact on officiating.

No I know how much they're getting. It's just funny the way he worded it as though he performed the study himself - I see him firing up SPSS, utilizing interlibray loans, spending all of his time in a library carrel compiling, synthesizing and explaining data sets and reaching conclusions. Because what he said was not we (as in the staff and athletic dept.) had one done or I read one but I did a study. The ginormous support staffs and resources are the very reason saying 'I did a study' sound odd/humorous. More likely someone on staff or even in another dept. did a study and he read it.

Yep. It makes it harder for officials to see offensive linemen blocking more than 5 yards down field on a pass play.

Guess you haven't realized yet that great defensive coordinators must have complete understanding of opposing offenses for them to do a good job defending.
Muschamp knows way more about offense than any poster on this board.

Truth
Bert is still fat and Saban is still a pussy.

Will does not want to piss off Saban. He knows he might have to ask him for a job after next year.

"My honest opinion is I think it's comical for everyone to come out either for it or against it and say this is what's best for college football. Because it's really not what's best for the game, but it's what's best for your interest. I did a study two years ago on when is the ball being snapped. On average each game, four to six plays on average were snapped before 30 seconds. So we're talking about four to six plays in a game. We're not talking about half the game. My point being, is what does it really change? I could care less about the rule. The only thing I will say is the administration of the game for the officials is very difficult
Translation: unlike other coaches who sucked it up last year, I don't have time to worry about rule changes. I have a spring to prepare for.

quote:This is a much better argument than the player safety side.
"Example, an offensive team gets a first down. The ball is being snapped before they even set the chains for the next first down. Is that good for the game? I don't think so. Those things as far as administration for the officials is very difficult and my conversations with [SEC head of officials] Steve Shaw and some of the officials I'm friends with. It becomes very difficult for them to get their eyes where they're supposed to be and execute their jobs. I don't think that's good for the game. So would it be good to have a little slower tempo for the game without slowing down these teams? Sure. But whatever we compromise on, I'll be fine either way."
