Not predicting a Vandy win but Bama fans sleeping on them are going to get a surprise, they are very well coached and play excellent fundamental football.

The Tide is in for a much bigger dogfight than most seem to realize.

There aren't many Bama fans sleeping on this one, though, a lot of us have had this game circled for awhile...we definitely understand the potential for this to be a more competitive game. The past few years I've been more paranoid about potential upset games than ever, not sure why. Guess it's because everybody is obsessed with beating Bama.

We beat BAMA then turned around and lost to UK. So be careful what you wish for.

I bet half the SEC would take Mason over their current coach. I know I would.

I did.

But, I don't think you'll beat Bama. However, at this point, I have less confidence in this Bama team than any in the past 8 years. There's still a lot of come-togethering to do with the 2017 version of Bama. So, I wouldn't be shocked. Slightly surpised, but not shocked.

All it takes is a few turnovers, and Vandy can stay in it.

I think Coach Mason has done a great job at Vandy. "The Process" makes it very difficult to upset Alabama. They are fundamentally sound on virtually every down. To beat them you need three things, an equally sound team, equal athletes and extraordinary depth. I think the only one of the three Vandy meets is the sound fundamentals.

That is a higher win total and overall win % against UA than UK, Ole Miss, MSU, USCe, and aTm.

The average game score is Alabama 23.6 - Vanderbilt 12.1.

They havent beaten UA since 1984. However, my really strong football memories start in the early 90s, and I always remember Vandy playing Bama close more often than not. Even in games that weren't close in the final score, it has often been a game where the final score did not fully reflect how close the game felt or how frustrating it was to watch.

UA should win easily by 2 scores+, but Vandy has a good D that will make the offense work for it. This is not a game that can just be placed on the D for UA to win. Need complete game in all 3 phases. If not, it may be another one of those frustrating victories that feel like a loss.
