The problem is not JUST Clowney. Last year SC had guys other than Clowney so when those guys stepped up and had to be accounted for it gave Clowney a chance to make plays. This year thats not happening so teams can just game plan for Clowney and push everyone else around.
SC also has some really young LBers. You can't replace two LBers and the Spur in the same year without issues. Especially considering those three guys where top 3 in tackles last year.
While the D line was eating blocks the LBers and Spur were making tackles last year. Thats not happening so far this season.

2nd: Isn't it a litte early to be counting him out for the rest of the season? I could understand if this was like week 11 and he only had 25 tackes and 3.5 sacks or something but come on. No OC is excited to have us on their schedule.
Georgia's Oline was supposed to be a huge strength for them this year as they returned all 5 starters. Playing at home with your backs against the wall is a lot different than playing in a racous 80,000+ capacity stadium for the 1st game of the year. UGA's Oline stepped up and showed what people had been expecting of them.

Clowney's whining right now and is as overexposed in the media as Manziel but in a different way (his problem is less douchebaggery, constant on and off-field shenanigans and more way too much media for any player). However, Clowney can't remotely compete with the ultimate douche. He'll have to put in a LOT more work if he wants to be on the same level as Manziel in the douche dept. He's working the hype dept. well but has a long arse way to go compete with JFF in that regard.
That said, I think one of the problems is that he doesn't have the same supporting cast he used to. Fame has went to his head somewhat but he also looked exhausted from the start and less than 100 percent against UGA and quite pissed off that he wasn't performing to his own expectations.
If it's not an injury that's been kept quiet then maybe he'll get his mind and body right.

Okay, so let's say Clowney has been taking it a little bit easier in practice and has been slack about conditioning (which is wierd because there were reports all spring and summer of him having to step off the field just so the offense could actually run some plays without him totally blowing shite up, reports of him running a sub 4.5 I believe it was, and kocking sleds over), or lets say he is actually sick or has some nagging injury. Or maybe the fame has rushed to his head (which is somewhat to be expected of a 20 year old thats been told he's one of the best all his life and we all know ESPN can take shite way too far) and he thinks he can win on talent alone.
Its honestly probably a combination of all 3.
But is there no one out there that thinks he can't turn it around in the next few weeks? I could understand if this was week 10 and he only had like 25 tackles and 3 sacks or something but the reality is, we've only played two games. Couple that with UNC and UGA having good to great offenses that gameplanned to take Clowney out, and you get Clowney performing subpar.

That's what I'm hoping for as he was too damn good last year to continue like this. I don't know what's wrong with him but the hopeful sign was he was obviously mad during the game that he wasn't getting to UGA (you could see it when they zoomed in on his face). Of course, I still hope Tiny and company keep him in check during our game.

Not even Manziel has called out his coaches. I guess St. Clowney is the anti-Manziel (©ESPN 2013) in more ways than simply eschewing social media and clubs/bars, huh?

haha yea. During spring practice, one of the defensive assistants, who was standing just a few yards from Manziel, went nuts celebrating immediately after Manziel threw a pick. Manziel shoved him. Not that big a deal. Coaches and QBs yell at each other all the time after the QB throws a pick.

Once a player gets all the hype that Clowney got since " the hit", the opposing players have extra motivation to not be on the high lite reel, except to maybe be seen as being the ones to slay the dragon. Coaches scheme against their strengths, and it frustrates someone with all the hype, into not playing their position properly. JC is great at pursuit, so use it against him when you can. Frustration is a killer.
