Clemson? Alabama? Oklahoma? Ohio State? Stanford? - Resume Review

It's a little small, apologies.
Things to keep in mind
Sagarain measures only your wins and losses. It is NOT based on the overall efficiencies/"best team". It is the "most accomplished team".
FPI/F+/S&P/FEI are measuring efficiencies and which team is the best on the field. It does not care about wins and losses.
Massey Composite is an average of 20+ computer rankings and polls.

Iowa and North Carolina don't look like the other ones there. Oklahoma also looks bad with that Texas loss.
Alabama, Clemson, and MSU belong for sure. who to give the fourth spot too? OSU looks good on paper but they have looked bad all year, and I hate OSU. Oklahoma still lost to Texas which should keep them out period. National champion contenders don't lose to 5-7 teams. Stanford played a tough schedule but has two losses, one of which was an 11 am CST game to start the season.

Yea, basically the way it breaks down is this :
Best "teams" (per computers)
Alabama
Clemson
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Best "resumes"
Alabama
Clemson
Oklahoma
Michigan State/Iowa/Stanford
It also shows that if Stanford had made the 2 point conversion against Oregon they are no doubt in the field. They'd have 1 Top 10 win, 3 Top 25 wins, 7 Top 50 wins and their loss would be to a Top 25 team on the road. And they'd have a Conference Title. They'd have a legit argument to be #1.

Now, this of course is all a little unfair to UNC as they will add a win over a team that will be in the Top 5 even after the loss, something nobody else has a chance to do. I would guess if they play well and do that they would move into the Top 7 or so in Sagarin and Top 8-12 in the FEI/S&P/etc, but they still wouldn't be in the Top 4 and their resume would still be light on depth and have a horrible loss.

What about 4-7 teams?

These teams that play one fewer game SHOULD have it held against them. I would say take UNC over Oklahoma because they would have a win over Number One to win their conference, not to mention having played another game. Clemson and Alabama are both facing good opposition , as is Iowa and Michigan State and this should count for something.
Is there anything keeping those leagues without a championship game from scheduling an OOC game?

Stanford should go way before OSU. In fact, I think Stanford is better than each of the three teams from the Big10.

I agree but Stanford did lose to the #4 team in the Big 10

It is pretty incredible how much worse Ohio State's schedule is than everybody else. And their best win to go along with is it a win over a 9-3 (overinflated due to Harbaugh and their early season run) Michigan team.
There is just nothing there to substantiate them getting in. Nothing. I think they are, at full speed best game, clearly one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the country, but they knew that Michigan State game was the only game on the schedule against an "elite" opponent and they just farted all over the place.

Use another team besides UNC. Play 1 FCS, ok, alot of teams do this. But play 2 FCS teams, that has to count against you. UNC played 2 FCS teams.
Though, it's funny to see that a team with 2 FCS games, is only 1 spot behind Ohio State on the SOS ranking.

They way the committee rankings match the computer rankings leads me to believe that committee just uses the BCS computers and make small adjustments

How I feel basically. I think they are one of the best 4 teams when motivated, which it looks like they were against Michigan. Why the F it always takes Meyer a loss to get there is beyond me

Oklahoma has the best wins. They also have the worse loss.

What I find interesting is that the narrative is that OSU kind of sleepwalked through the season, but they are still a Top 5 team in all the efficiency metrics (S&P, FEI, F+).
Clearly the OSU team that annihilated Michigan would be a force in a playoff, and if they had done that against Michigan State too I think everyone would have them as the favorite (and #1 team).

UNC may very well frick it all up this weekend with a win over the number 1 Clemson. stand by........

OSU played like crap much of this year and it was frustrating to watch. Their defense is championship good, and I assumed that once JT got put in full time they would really gear up and go on an offensive tear. It didn't happen against MSU for whatever reason, be it rain, having the wrong OC up in the booth calling plays, or Meyer being a moron

SEC is given way too much credit. The league sucks this year with sub par QBs and teams hovering just above .500. The second best team in the league was destroyed by Memphis.

The Michigan State game was just perplexing. All of the delayed QB runs, without a read option, were just strange.
