My group is making the trip to Bama for the first time.
Are there any restaurants, great bars, sites to see, or any other can't miss attractions that we need to visit while in town?
Pre- game traditions: locations and times?
We want to get the full experience while we're in town.

Yeah. All that's in the plan, but where are the best places for each?

Buffalo Phils is the best damn food in town.

Egans is the shite, if you want to get hammered and talk to hot girls.

Bo's is the second best bar in town.

You don't have to get into the stadium until like, 20 minutes before kickoff, it's ridiculous.

Pizza: Tut's or Mellow Mushroom
Breakfast: Rama Jama's or Waysider
Seafood: Wintzells or Cypress Inn (best restaurant in ttown imo)

If your a Fratstar: Gallettes
If your an Old Dude/ Avid Sports Fan/ Alumni/ Opposing Fan: Houndstooth or Buffalo Phils
A good time outside: BearTrap
Looking for sloots: Coppertop (pretty much any bar)

Buffalo Phils is average overpriced bar food. Egan's is a hipster bar where a bunch of weirdos that like politics and music too much hang out and Bo's bar sucks too.

For gameday atmosphere, go to the quad. It's a good time. Tailgaters on the west half, food vendors on the east side. Stuff for families/kids on the southeast side. Elephant Stomp (pregame pep rally) where the band plays on the steps of the Gorgas library about an hour and a half before the game. Walk of champions is usually about 2.5 hours before the game on the north side of the stadium.

For bars, just walk down the strip and pick one. Drink a yellowhammer at Gallettes. Get in a fight at the Houndstooth. Vomit off the rooftop patio at the Bear Trap. Have sex with a sorostitute in the bathroom at the Red Shed. Good times all around.....

Bryant Museum if you want to see the history of Alabama Football. I think they open as early as 9.

Ever since the Booth died, Tuscaloosa died with it. You were practically guaranteed an STD just by walking through the door.

Eating wise... try McDonald's. It's pretty good.

And the Houndstooth sucks cow penis. If you decide to go there, do us all a favor and take a can of gasoline and matches with you.

Do not go to the Booth or Egan's unless you are a Widespread fan looking for a slut with hairy armpits.

Friday night, the strip will probably be full of Corndogs. Most of the regular nightlife has moved downtown now to the Temerson Square area.

Saturday the strip will be packed and is a short walk from the quad. If I was from out of town I would park at the intermodal facility downtown and then bus in early. After the game, catch the bus back and go out downtown.

This is all the worst info IMO. These places are some of the worst in Tuscaloosa.

I put this together the other day:

Hey guys, I thought I would try to put something together to help all the LSU fans planning on making the trip to Tuscaloosa for the game. I have always had a great time in Baton Rouge when I make the trip every other year and hope you have the same type of experience except for the outcome of the game of course. Here are some ideas for different things you might be looking to do (restaurants, bars, shopping, etc). These are all my personal favorites. Any other Bama fans with suggestions feel free to chime in.

FINE DINING (all are great):
-Ephihany's
-Evangeline's
-Kozy's
-Chuck's Fish
-Opus
-Cypress Inn

TUSCALOOSA FAVORITES:
-Nick's in the Sticks (excellent steak and get a Nicodemus!)
-5
-Dreamland
-Archibald's (better than dreamland IMO)
-Depalma's Italian
-The Bear Trap (rooftop restaurant that overlooks the Strip)

BREAKFAST:
-Waysider (get here early or plan on waiting a long time)
-Rama Jama's

BARS (there are two central locations for the bars in Tuscaloosa, downtown in Temmerson Square or on The Strip. This is just a rough list, there are others on the Strip and downtown that I am sure I am forgetting)

Downtown Bars:
-Catch 22
-Innisfree (probably my favorite bar downtown, great drinks and a TON of "scenery")
-4th and 23rd (always have a good band playing but can get really crowded)
-Carpe Vino (wine bar/upscale feel)
-Wilhagan's (good sports bar with lots of TV's. pool tables, etc)
-Rythym and Brews (older crowd but still a fun bar)

The Strip Bars (all within walking distance to UA campus):
-Gallettes (this is the Greek bar so there will be A LOT of "scenery" here both Friday and Saturday. be sure to get a Yellow Hammer!)
-The Houndstooth (voted the best college sports bar in the country, this is a fun place also. Probably a lot of LSU fans will be here)
-Egans (don't like this place. Always seemed to be the artsy, sketchy crowd)
-The Jupiter (the place for the big bands to play in Tuscaloosa. If there isn't a good band playing do not waste your time here)
-Rounders (the closest thing to a club you will find in Tuscaloosa)

SHOPPING:
University Mall (your typical indoor mall with all the name brand stores)
Midtown Village (brand new outdoor mall with a lot of new shops and restaurants)
The Tuscaloosa Galleria (upscale boutiques, fine dining, etc)

THINGS TO SEE:
-Walk around the UA campus (Quad, President's Mansion, Sorority Row, The Walk of Champions, Gorgas House, etc. It is truly a beautiful campus with many buildings dating back to pre-cival war)
-Manderson Landing Park (great place besides campus to take in a good run. It is a beautiful park right on the Black Warrior River)
-Ride around the city and take in the massive damage done to the city by the April 27th tornado.

I know this has been long but hope this helps. For parking info, etc. check out www.uagameday.com. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer. RTR!
