Damn bruh, you know more than like 98% of our fans about A&M- the obsession is really impressive.
That speaks more about your fans than it does him.

How in the world does this not have at least one corndog downvote?!?!

Well, I suppose we aren't known as a passionate fanbase- guess we better take our jars and go home.

That's the best idea any of y'all have had lately

In all honesty, what he is doing is ridiculous. A&M fans can't really be pleased with how he is handling this. He decided to leave LSU, breached his contract and now is screaming and crying about the repercussions of leaving. LSU made him a household name, it's a shame how this has turned out.
I couldn't be more honest when I say: I could not care less.
This is a bigger deal to y'all, because personal feelings/slights are involved.
I get that--I'd likely be annoyed too.
But from my standpoint, I have yet to see a second of the guy coaching for my team.
So at this point, it's just a coach, dealing with the legalities surrounding a former contract.

I personally don't care. Our football team is not harmed in anyway by this. However, I think yall would be at least a little concerned as an actual coach is involved in your side no? Most likely it won't matter but there is at least some chance it can take some of his focus

I mean, maybe I'm a rotten fan, but no.
Not even a little concerned.
This is his business.
I read that the action won't even be litigated until after the 2015 season is complete.
Even at that point, it'll be the attorneys slugging it out with each other.

I don't have a lot of faith in our Athletic Director at all so nothing would surprise me, but the answer given by Chavis and his representation to these questions should be really fun to read:
quote:
Two of the requests in the discovery document are as follows:
“Does Chavis contend that he was still employed by LSU during the month of January 2015? If yes, then please list all facts and evidence, along with the full names and addresses of any witnesses, in support of that contention.”
“Does Chavis contend that he was not employed by Texas A&M during the month of January 2015? If yes, then please list all facts and evidence, along with the full names and addresses of any witnesses, in support of that contention.”

If these allegations by Chavis are found to be false, I'd like to see LSU bring a libel suit against Chavis. He's grasping at straws at this point.

IMO, if you make a false allegation like this in court, your arse should go to jail.
Just saying Adam, you may want to close this page, just for a sec, and Google "perjury"!

This man truly is psychotic
This is the only explanation I can surmise.
We make the man rich, then he decides to leave because the AD won 't extend his already guaranteed two year contract ext. to three years.
He starts recruiting for A&M while still under contract for LSU....and he's suing USSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
????????????

I guarantee you that Chavis and his attorney can support their claim, or else there is no way in hell the lawyers would have included the claim. It might have been a fairly minor change, but I guarantee you they can document a change of some kind that was made after Chavis signed. And that may be all they need to do. The extension would become void, and the 400 grand LSU is trying to get from Chavis over his leaving a couple weeks early goes away.

Except there's one really big problem: his issue isn't with his current contract. He's complaining about a clause from his 2012 contract. He actually signed a new contract in 2013. This is nothing more than a pissing match right now.

He signed an extension of a contract. If the original contract was modified after he signed, then the extension can't hold up, either.

Article from April 2012 is humorous in retrospect:
It wasn't enough.
Greedy SOB tried to shake us down for more money.
I'm glad we let him walk this time.
Miles hired Pelini and Chavis. We'll be fine whether Steele works out or not.

Chavis made $708,000 last season and has been pursued by other big name schools, including Texas and Georgia. Chavis turned down the same job at Georgia after his first season at LSU.
The extension would earn him $900,000 next season, $1.1 million in 2013 and and $1.3 milllion in 2014, according to the report. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is only assistant in the SEC making more than Chavis. He recently received a raise to $950,000.
"He's turned down opportunities," LSU Coach Les Miles told Gannett News. "He could easily have been at any number of places in the SEC as defensive coordinator for a huge raise. So I think this is really just market value."

Funny how a guy who made $1million+ a year couldn't afford an attorney to notice significant alterations to his contract (until now) which any citizen could have viewed with an open records request.
This is going to get ugly for the Aggies and Chavis.

This whole situation is way more embarrassing and damaging for LSU than it is for Chavis. Chavis is one man who will likely be out of the sport in 5 years. LSU football is a lasting institution with hundred million dollar revenues. Suing Chavis for a few hundred thousand when the contract language could be interpreted either way comes across as petty. It makes LSU seem like a scorned woman who got dumped and wants to make her ex hurt as bad as she is hurting.
Ultimately, it will hurt LSU's ability to recruit the best coaches and negotiate future buyout agreements. LSU will still be a premier job, but someone with several options may consider taking LSU off the list due to its reputation for fighting coaches who decide they want to leave. At the least, future hires are going to enter contract negotiations with a skeptical attitude.
This is all being done more to stir up the fan base than it is good business sense. LSU lost at trying to keep Chavis and hire a good replacement, so they are placating the fans by trying to win a lawsuit.
