And we're the ones mind-fricked by the horns.
These SEC folks are in-lust.

i like strong... think he'll do a good job at UT. he'll bring a toughness that's lacking from virtually every college program in that state and the rest of the Big12. Outside of maybe OU and TCU, there's a lot of soft football being played in the texas the southwest.
sumlin is definitely the better salesman and A&M will continue to win the recruiting battles... but texas may end up with the better coach.

I'm expecting Patterson to come out with yet another statement about how playing the game isn't a priority now. They have this conversation with themselves over and over.
I'm fine with playing Texas, so long as it is early in the season. No way do I want to shift LSU off of TDay Weekend, that is going to build back in to a great rivalry like it was when I was in school. I also have no trust at all in the sips and if we played them on TDay and beat them 4 or 5 times in a row they would try and cancel like the bitches that they are. I think it would be a fun season opener just like LSU was when I was in school.
The funny thing to me is that the game won't mean nearly as much as everyone thinks it might. It would be an early season OOC game. A&M could lose that game every year and still make the Playoff in theory (just have to cruise through the SEC undefeated, easy enough right?). It also wouldn't have nearly the recruiting impact some think either because of it being early in the season, people remember how you finish and not how you start. That game would likely host Gameday most years (first couple years would be especially awesome with the hate so fresh).
A&M doesn't need the game though. If it happens it happens. I think it is better for college football, the State of Texas, and both conferences if it does happen. The school and program though? Meh. A&M already has Texas by the short and curlies with our SEC move and they are finding they have no counter, that won't change if we play them or not.

once this LSU/A&M thanksgiving game gets rolling, it will kill the end of the season Texas/A&M game... it's a shame, but that's life.

Considering that every tradition (sawing at games), chant (goodbye to texas university), nickname (sips, tu) revolves around your inferiority complex in relation to Texas, I'd say you're the ones that are mind-fricked.

Personally I'd rather have Texas. I'd rather have a competitive game on Thanksgiving than what A&M-LSU is about to become. Once the Saban effect wears off LSU is going to start searching for another way to cancel the series again after another series of beatdowns. Hell, it might be the final push to get them to leave for the Big 12.

Every tradition?
Sure thing.
(you named three from a 100+ year rivalry--most programs have similar stories).

Too bad for him the Texas BOT will always hold his leash.

That's still better than having every tradition at your school be based on a cheap copy of your rival.
Texas' fight song "Texas Fight" was a response to "Farmer's Fight" and mentions A&M.
Texas' hand signal was a response to Gig'em.
Texas' Hex Rally was a response to Bonfire.
Texas' nickname was taken from our yearbook.
Texas' mascot is named by what they could make from us branding 13-0 on the side of the nutless bovine the last time they stopped playing us.
Oh, and the idea that Texas is the best job in the country is beyond laughable. 10 years ago maybe but certainly not now. Who wants to play in the 5th Best Conference in CFB? Who wants to have to deal with the LHN? Texas still has money and some old winning tradition but that's about it now. That's why all of the NFL coaches they contacted laughed at them. That's why Saban, Fisher, Mora, etc. weren't interested. It's a good job but it is a FAR cry from the best job out there, honestly it is probably one the back side of the Top 10 at this point.

I was referring to the fact that other schools with long rivalries don't solely focus their hatred and jealousy on one team alone. I'm not aware of another school in the country that has as much animosity and jealousy manifested in tradition as A&M has with Texas while Texas has no chants, poorly executed nicknames, etc. directly involving A&M.

Hex Rally
Texas Fight, Texas Fight, and it's goodbye to A&M

This keeps happening, the schools keep dodging each other.
That said, Texas has made the overtures recently and TAMU isn't responding. Maybe they're just of the mind they don't need Texas in any form anymore, but I certainly can see why most folks in Texas think TAMU is avoiding Texas on this.
