Paul Finebaum last year

Does Paul count?

If you are in the SEC and attend events it seems damned hard not to meet him.

I've met several. One sticks out in my mind above the others. Steve McNair 3 days before he was killed.

what were the core issues between Broyles and Richardson?

Broyles was a major control freak over sports he cared about (basketball and football) and Richardson was very much I'm in charge type of person. Put those two together and you get the same reaction you do with potassium and water.

Track, on the other hand, Broyles didn't really care about other then making sure we had the best track facilities on the planet. Which is how we built a world class track program.

I met Deuce McAllister tailgating in the Junction at a Mississippi State game oddly enough (not the Egg Bowl). Super nice dude more than happy to grab a plate and chat.

Our church used to have an annual Father/Son banquet. The guy that organized things was a big Ohio State fan. One year we had Archie Griffin as the speaker and my Dad and I sat at his table. He had just won his second Heisman, but was a real nice guy.

When I was a little kid, I trick or treated at Bert Jones's house. I didn't know who he was at the time as he had been retired for a few years and I was a Steelers fan. He was kinda surly when we came to the door.

He was at the bar across the street from Fred's (in '84 or so) doing a promotional for one of his Lite Beer commercials - I said to him "Can I ask you a question?" His smart arse reply was "You just did."

Ran into The Big Show at the Dubai International Airport.

I sat right across from The Big Show on a flight from Nashville to Miami. I first saw him in security and had to ask someone who he was.

Shaq at a Gas station off the interstate in south Alabama. Cornelius Bennett at a high school football game. Dale Jr at a hunting camp in Alabama. Dale Sr's crew chief when my company worked on his helicopter. Some of the ones I remember right now.
