Yes, correct. Those things only come up if they have the same record.
Basically, they look at them like tiebreakers.

Michigan and Ohio St results against common opponent Penn St favors ranking Michigan in front of Ohio St.

Potentially. Michigan has good wins but all of them are at home. I have no idea how much a road good wins weighs in compared to a home good win.
I imagine a road top 10 win is way better than a home top 10 win? I wish these guys would actually ask tough questions to these jabronis on the committee

Auburn should be. Best 3 loss team in the country

With how shitty the rankings have been lately, I wouldn't be surprised to see Western Michigan take a jump. I dont think top 6 but possibly top 15 to top 10.

Western Michigan may have played their worst game of the season against Kent State, I have no idea. But I watched that Kent State team live, and they are one of the worst D1A teams I've seen in the last 5 years or so.
They were awful.

1. Who really cares?
2. The teams will be ranked according to what match-up will have the largest viewing audience. And those ranked 5 and 6 are there in case someone is off script and loses. Don't worry though, the profits are covered.

Your continued precense on this message board is strange

Agreed. It's all about money. If the committee actually selected the best teams LSU would be in the top 4.

if auburn is the best 3 loss team in the country, and lsu has 3 losses, 1 of which is to the best 3 loss team in the country, wouldn't that put lsu as the best 3 loss team in the country?

TN has the #1 SOS in the country.
Beat UGA in Athens - Tigers LOST.
Same loss to A&M and will only be a 3 loss in regular season with Auburn having 4 after Bammer.
VOLS>>>>AUBURN

Strange is the fact that you say that you are an Army fan but yet join in on the Bama delusion that this crap is real. That is strange.

TN barely got by Appalachian State.

I have seen several UT fans cite this #1 SOS yet not a single site has them higher than #20 SOS in the nation. #1 is hard to achieve given playing in the East. UT has played one decent team and one great team and lost both. Including losing to a really bad team.

This statistic is so raw as it wholly has to do with opponent W/L record.
Is no one going to point out that nearly 40% of Tennessee opponents' wins have come from Virginia Tech, Ohio, and Appalachian State? They have a combined 21-9 (.724) record playing in not-so-good conferences/divisions.
