I still don't think Harris is the guy to get it done for LSU. I don't see us being top 5 just yet with him at QB.

Tenn at 3 is a much worse prediction than LSU at 1.

I've posted plenty polls in the past that don't have LSU at # 1.

They return the majority of their starters/2-deep and have a great class coming in, so it's not a real surprise. They should be extremely good this year. I think it's "put up, or shut up" this year. No more excuses, especially for Les Miles, who you could make an argument has underachieved with the talent he has had in recent years. It will be interesting to see if Harris can make the jump. He was nothing special last year, but as we saw with Coker, you don't have to be an elite talent, although you do have to improve. They are razor thin at LB and are adjusting to a new scheme, but they have a great DC. Line play will also be crucial. How will they do against physical teams like Arky and Bama that pushed them around last year? They are elite at RB/WR/DB/S. I think anything more than 2 losses and you have to start to look at the coach. There is no excuse for LSU to lose more than 2 games this year. None. This could be the best chance they have to win a title for a few years, especially when you consider that they'll be losing close to, or even more than half of their starters. It's no secret that Miles isn't exactly Einstein when it comes to the X's and O's aspect and managing the clock, and it would take him REALLY screwing things up for this team to lose more than 2 games. Frankly, I don't see that happening.

Contrary to the agendas that get thrown around, UT didn't underachieve, but rather did just what 90% of people expected them to do last year. 9-4 and 2nd in the East. It's an easy trap to fall into because of the blown leads and near misses, but we were never "supposed" to do more than what we did last year. We started the year at 25 in the AP poll and ended at 22. The people expecting 10 wins and a division title were the minority. If last year was a class, Butch passed, but just scraped by with a C.

26th for Arkansas as an early season ranking, predicting they'll be a top 25 team with a possibly very stout defense, and an offense that finds itself as the season progresses is a great assessment. Record and season breakdown is consistent with what most Hog fans believe is plausible.
