I really don't give a shite one way or the other but someone from AU's legal team needs to get a hold of Cecil and tell him to shut the frick up.

That's YOUR assumption. Only AU fans ever state that. Not even CECIL will say that.

He said the NCAA has the truth. The NCAA has already said they have not found where AU paid Newton anything. A=B B=C A=C do the math.

Cecil Newton added. "He's played for so long for free that anything we make, man, is a blessing."

So the NCAA has the truth and Cam played for FREE...

I disagree with this... Would not accomplish anything, Auburn does not have a legal problem with Cecil.. He did not word his responses well, but quotes can be taken out of context. The NCAA is who matters and he said they have the TRUTH Auburn is in the clear... He also said he has cooperated and the NCAA has not interviewed him for months, which are also good signs.

So why not just say, "no, we didn't solicit any money from Auburn"????

If after reading that you, as an AU fan, don't cringe a little bit...

But the question wasn't about money changing hands, it was about Cecil soliciting AU folks.

It was a horrible answer if he truly wanted to put the saga behind him.

I admit, I did. I still don't believe AU did anything wrong in the recruitment of Cam, I just think Cecil is a moron.

I wish he had, but he also did not say he solicited from Auburn... You have to take the article in full... Would love to have seen the ENTIRE interview vs. just a printed version...

My opinion is that he was coached to not comment specifically, so he referred to the NCAA report.

I also believe there is an NCAA loophole about solicitation, MSU is not in trouble for just discussing with him...

Cecil is a preacher. Lies and obfuscation are his bread and butter. Even if Cam never received so much as a leftover french fry from Auburn he would not be able to just come out and just say, "Cam did not receive a french fry". He would start talking about Cam's new nutrition plan, how he lost weight while at Auburn, Wendy's vs McDonald's french fries, what defines a gift french fry, what is a community bag french fry, etc. He has to hem and haw and, justify, hide, avoid, dance, etc.

It's just his nature.

The NCAA has stated NO such thing. Even Cecil just stated the investigation is still on going and limited himself to what he would say in that interview!

Remember there is a loophole, the NCAA does NOT have a rule against solicitation... Maybe that is part of it.

Don't paint with a broad brush. Not all preachers are that way.

Regardless - Cecil needs to just keep his yaw shut - all it does is create buzz - if he truly wants to let it settle - he needs to stay out of the lime light, as much as possible, and keep quiet.

interviews like this will do nothing more than create a feeding frenzy for the bottom dwellers in the media - IE Finebaum, SbB and others.

No.. YOU have to take the full article and insert your own thoughts to make you feel better about a situation that is so not going away!

There is no loophole. Not even in the SEC bylaws.

As to MSU, being asked by somebody to provide money for play is not a fault of a university unless they agree to it. That fault belongs to the one asking.

If the NCAA happens to catch wind of this, I would take it as a slap in the face! Mocking them
