Butch Jones at UT makes me think of Gerry DiNardo at LSU.

Righted the ship, recruited well, was a likeable guy. But he was only going to get you to a certain point.

That's Butch. 9 wins a yr is probably max for him in reality. The kind of coach who can get you near where you want to be, but will never reach the top

This is the year big balls bUTch drags his nuts all over the SEC. Get to play four of the big 6 with a chance to play Auburn in Atlanta. You frickers are about to learn.

It shouldn't be. It's not a state where a load of high school talent resides. According to one source, there are 8-10 Division I players in the state in the next recruiting cycle.

That is absolute BS. TN had three composite 5* kids last cycle and generally have about 20-25 kids go on to play at Power5 schools every year. Nobody is going to confuse TN HS football with LA or GA, but it's gotten a lot better

The Jones coached Vols lost to South Cackalacky and Vandy last year. As I recall UT was outscored 21-3 in the second half against Vandy.

He needs to go. Period. Hey Hey Good bye!

I didn't mind that. Besides Teazing the frick out of the swamp dwellers, that was the high point of the year. So what if he has emotion with an outcome like the Dobb Nailed Boot.

The main problem for Tennessee is that it doesn't always realize fully its position -- perhaps the sixth-best program in the SEC. Try to tell me that Tennessee should be ranked ahead of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and others in the league. It shouldn't be. It's not a state where a load of high school talent resides. According to one source, there are 8-10 Division I players in the state in the next recruiting cycle.

Lol, 8-10 division 1 players? This hack didn't even research. I hope he slams his hand in a car door

So, he's blaming the state? Pretty certain there are a few more than 8-10. Hell there are 9 in the ESPN top 300

Yeah, he's a fricking idiot. There is already 15 players that have committed to D1 schools.

That seems to be spot on . If he got a good DC and OC and let them do their job he could turn the Vols around.

If a young Gene Stallings or Howard Schnellenberger type (no nonsense types that run a tight ship) moved to Knoxville, that program would vastly improved. You're right, there's talent there now. Instill some discipline and the East could be theirs.

He inherited a very bad program and has done a pretty good job with consistency, discipline, etc. Tennessee is in a far better position now than they were before because of Butch.

This and I thank him for it, we needed it bad, but I don't think he can take the next step.

Les Miles got fired for falling to a level that is basically Butch's best season.

So...Les brought a team from Nick Saban level to Butch Jones level...while Butch brought UT from Derek Dooley level to Les Miles level. Is that an accurate statement?
